when i bought the car there was tons of rust in there. you cant really clean it out because there are cavities in that tank so the pressure washer could get them. but i do need to do a coolant flush.

    Hey mark,

I really like your setup too. I also recommend getting one more similar silicone coupler for after the mass air sensor as well to replace that ribbed one that causes turbulence. It would help smoothen out airflow. Also I think if you sanded down the piping and painted black it would look VERY OEM and most probably wouldn't even know any better.

    just a though

im thinking of running the intake down the other side of the car soon. I dont like it having to go over the engine. But thats a good idea.

I have thought about doing that too, but theres not really any room....

Would give awesome throttle response though having it shorter and it would stay cooler too, no headers or cam cover to absorb heat from

when there is no room you gotta make room... LOL
I think it can be done. There is some AC stuff in the way but i dont think it should be too bad.

Did you find your intake made a decent difference? What about the noise

honestly, i dont know if i gained much in performance. Once i put my AMG wheels back on the car was much better. But i think it did help with throttle response. But it defiantly sounds more mean. Like its been said before, sounds like its going to eat a small child. Around 2k it has a annoying whistling noise but when the windows are up you cant hear it. But at around 4k it sounds awesome and again at 6k its pretty nice. Maby ill get a recording from my camera sometime today.

update on the misconception of the aem bypass

here is that update on that aem bypass .... It operates like a pressure relief valve, and is only open if the cold air filter is not the point of least resistance (such as when it is blocked off by water). In all other instances, it's actually closed, so no hot air comes in.

I did a similar setup in my C36, although after hitting a deep puddle at Pacific Raceways, I thought for sure my engine was done. I got lucky and would never do something like this again without the AEM bypass valve
