is $2000 too much for a brand new oem supercharger / kompressor?

anyone know of a better deal on a new one than a dealership?

and not interested in canadiansuperchargers...i tried two of theirs and they both failed.

There are a number of places online that offer rebuilt units for less than half of that price but it is for the unit only. Google for rebuilt Eaton supercharger. No labor. Did your $2k include labor? Check the fine print, but a number of sites offer lifetime warranties.

I believe these cars use the Eaton M45 supercharger, so you may not have to buy one that is listed for Mercedes and pay the Merecedes surcharge. GM and Ford have been using these Eaton superchargers, too. There was a post from someone recently that said they thought the C230 used an M62, so double check which it uses first.

mines used, actually - the oil isnt always from the supercharger - the Kompressor M111 has this other black plastic piece I think its called an oil seperatoer thats mounted on the valve cover - that goes bad too!

but yea I have a used supercharger OEM. Im not sure what i will do with it either use it or sell it.

    Engine oil.

From reading posts on the net, it seems that mechanics often are too eager to change the SC without really checking the oil separator system.

    ... Exactly!

if i ever had/have/will own a C230K id find a way to get rid of that thing but im not really sure what it does or where it goes I know theres something there and I never bothered to look into this as I dont have a C230K .

    I have,

    Supercharger (clutch type)
    supercharger/alternator relocation bracket
    supercharger belt tightener w.pulley
    idler pulley w.cap
    belts
KLEEMANN supercharger pulley (useless fake piece of junk)

I was going to set my C230 with a supercharger but Id rather get a turbo to control my boost and keep it under 7psi with stock longblock and then find a M111K long block with lower compression ratio. my project side-tracked when I couldnt pass-up OCKlasse's updated bumper deal.

what does it seperate from the oil, and why would it be connected to the air intake plumbing?

i told you guys its that stupid oil separator thing in the air box not the K&N filter (unless you over oil the thing). Over at our ford dealership we put those suckers on all day long and haven't had 1 bad MAF yet. Before i even put a K&N filter, i noticed oil all in the intercooler and piping. All that thing really does is reticulate the gases from the engine that’s left over that’s still combustible back into the engine. I guess its really there for emissions.
Theres a demon in my car i tell yah....its name is KOMPRESSOR lmfao
