Thread: Rear headrest removal??

  1. #1

    Question Rear headrest removal??

The only thing that is stopping me from removing the rear shelf is the rear headrest.

I've been using this thread for pointers

But one problem. My rear deck doesnt look like this...

    It looks like this

Both headrest clips are not visable

Any advise on how to take these phuckers off?

On Phils car we just turn those black clips in between the 1st and 2nd position and then wiggle the headrest out. I'm not much help on helping you find the black clips, as they should be right there when you rotate the headrest up from it's down position. We did have to hit the button up front to lower the headrest before we started to rotate them up by hand.

Susanto will probably be much more help when he gets to this thread...
See, on W201 my rear headrests simply pull out of the brackets...but you 202 guys just haaaaave to have the rear headrests retract.

    Joey,

The reason why yours is not the same is becaue you have the folding seat. On the folding seat, the access to the clip is very limited.

You have to use a long and small screw driver and a flash light and use one of the hole, peek through it, and then move the clip slowly with the screw driver. make sure you do this for both sides (of 1 head rest). And then you just wiggle it and it should come right off. If you need help, let me know. I can probably drive down there to get it out for you.

Well, the hidden one on the drivers side headrest there should be enough room to insert a utensil of some kind through a factory hole.

Also, it is not at position two to get it out. It is in between of position 1 and 2.

This is the position of the clip to open the head rest.

What is it that you are trying to do?

  11. #11
Ok so it is between the down position and the first click position.

Trying to do? See a few threads down. I got the power sun shade I want to bolt up today as I think this is my last day for any type of car mods.

I took some pics. I have called Mb as well as fedex already. Hopefully one of them will step up and take ownership of this and replace it.

I will post pics in a few minutes.

    Box

    Inside the box

    One of the broken arms

    The other one

With both of these broken it has rendered the sunshade DOA.

Now its a waiting game between the seller and the shipper as to who will give me another sunshade. All I can do now is just prewire the darn thing in the car.

Sorta blows though. As most of you know I have a time limit on my car moding time. And this was my last day to do anything with cars. Cruse you mr murphy curse you to heck!

You will still be able to install the new sunshade right? If not Susanto and I can come over and do it for you...so it's not YOU who is modding.
