Ebay AMG wheels. what kind are they?

    eBay

Hey I was interested in these wheels off of ebay. What car did these originally come off of? i'm pretty sure they did not come stock on a 1998 C43 as the item info suggests.
Also will these fit properly? tires the right size?

Somebody else posted a question about wheels like that either on this forum or another one. There was some question as to whether they were real or some knock-offs. I don't think anyone ever posted back with a definitive answer. Did you do some searches on the part number given?

judging by the part number, i would have to throw out a wild guess and say a 500E. i think they were really rare with the wide fenders. shoot him a email and ask what the offset it because it doesn't say anywhere.

i used to run 18x8 with 235/40/18 all around and never had any problems with speedo or abs (system operated normally). i went down to optimal 225's though for more fender clearance because of H&R springs.

Those look pretty old school, if authentic. Seen them before, but cannot remember off the top of my head the model.

Anyway, they definitely did not come factory from the C43 in the US.

The seller may have had them on a C43 (maybe he bought them and threw them on the C43) and so "technically" they can be said "came off a C43."

So does anyone know if the tires will be correct? and how about the offset? the auction ends soon, so i want to be sure they would fit before i buy

is 1% slower tire speed too much of a difference in speed, will this throw things of, a mph or 2 doesn't really matter, i'm worried about the cruise control, abs ect. don't have traction control

you will be fine with the tire size man. you have a pre-update 202 and the system is not as sensitive as the newer ones. like i said, i ran 235/40/18 before all around and it still functioned correctly (abs, speedo, cruise). your speedo will be off like 1 mph if even that.....big deal!!!!!!!

if your car isn't lowered you should be good. my monoblocks are 31 offset and i had to roll the fenders but that's because the car is dropped.

The pics you posted inline for this thread look like legit Monoblock II (or whatever they are called and similar to what came on the C36 and C43) which are classic wheels to have on the w202 and look much better (in my opinion) than the wheels in the ebay ad link you posted. If you are going to the expense to get new wheels, I would get at least 17 inch though versus 16 inch.

thanks for the info 1995c280, to me you must know alot about the C280 if yours has over 300,000 mi.

those pics were just reference(they do look a little different), the ebay wheels are 17 inch. they are AeroI wheels.
look at the link of the member i posted up and the ebay link. those are the wheels
I like to be different, trying to go for the early 90's scheme. (green with gold emblems-whats more 90's than that)

will this e28 offset move the wheel in or out? if out how much farther will it stick out than the stock 15's. i don't want the wheels to rub.

Calculate using the tool I sticked in this section. You can type in your current setup and then try a new one. It will tell you how much of a difference the change will be.

both, mostly out though. i believe stock is a 15x7 ET37 rim and these are 17x8 ET28. you will have 4mm (.16 inch )less inner clearance which is nothing. the outer will extend 22mm (.87 inch). basically just take a tape measure off the sidewall of your tire and check roughly past 3/4 of an inch.

just so you know, my monoblocks extend and extra 19mm which is exactly 3/4 of an inch. i don't see you having any problems because you are at stock ride height which is like a 4x4 on these cars. but if you plan on lowering your car in the future with these wheels....you will need to roll the fenders! if any rub at all it may be on the inner fenders lock-to-lock but surely not the fender itself.

Thanks for all your help. I lost the auction in the last seconds anyway, they went for $820, and that was more than i was willing to spend. I am hoping to get some wheels in the near future though.
