    DRL's on a W202?

So, before I get flamed for not searching forum posts - I did attempt to without joy.

And before I get yelled at for even thinking of putting in DRLs (I know how unpopular they are) I think these are super stylish

So my question is, can it be done on a W202 2000 C230K? Even if I have to splice other wires to make it work. Any ideas? Im open to all suggestions. I think these are super stylish on a 00` C230K, and would look pretty badass at night. I have HID's to go with it.

    Lemme know!

    Thanks!

    Thanks Horgan,

I think it would be a nice addition to my car for night time riding. Will this just be plug and play? Once I get the lights, I'll take pictures of them at night

Yes, I agree. There are probably kits with plug and play or minimal splicing.

IMHO, doesnt look right. Too modern for such an older, boxy body style. Additionally, if you dont have xenons, will look really out of place.

I agree about the out of place look, but I guess it wouldnt hurt to see what the end result would be. After all, some people plug in the COMAND system into a W202 (given that takes way more skill to do) point is, its out of place to the mercedes fan but a cool mod nonetheless.

Ill just have to wait and see what it looks like at night. Couldnt be worse than having projector lights AMIRIGHT?

The honest truth - I bought a W202 because of this reason, I had a choice of a W202 vs a W203. I just love my old box cars xD

Absolutely. I love the body style. Just the newer trends IMHO will not look right considering the classic lines and setup of the 202.

Two things: see what it looks like and then post pictures for others to see!

    MikeD,

Heres the end product, it turns heads at night, not kidding either. Wouldnt be surprised if the rice rocketeer's buy a set. All and all, very fun project - but I blew out my HID's from terrible wiring on my side, but fixed it. Here they are... A tight fit, not going to lie.

As you can tell, they are upside down becuase of the way my fog lamp sockets are designed, but no problem, I just put them the other way - still stylish

I am too, these are sexy at night. I have them connected to my parking lights, i need to build a switch for it so I can run em during the day. Another expense to go... Next stop, AMG 17 Monoblock restoration project...

Not so hawt on the OJ, but atleast he has them right side up Lol. Looks good though, I do like his rims, alot. Cant wait to restore my monoblocks and put those badboys on. Im also going to make a switch for the DRL's soon.

Also, looks like he used a LED stick on strip, not the actual DRL bracket that I used. I was thinking about using the same kind of technique, but, I love the DRL look.

Ahh yes! Its already in the works. I will be posting up pics soon with a sort of guide. But again, I'm not expert, my friend is the one doing them. Once he is done, and I have a final product, I will post on the forums. Ill let you know how it goes!

So sorry for the late reply, but the rims came out very good. I was kind of worried, but they ended up turning great for the end. I bought wheel paint at Pep boys, and just lots of clear coat. Of course I had to prime it. I would also like to recommend sanding it down with high grit paper, I used around 220. But i cant stress clear coat, you will need tons of it. They are fairly cheap, around 4 bucks a can. Anyways, here is what you will need...

Whatever color primer you intend to paint the rim
Wheel paint (I bought metallic silver from dupli-color)
Lots of clear coat, any brand. but LOTS OF IT.

    Easy on, easy off...

Sand it down with water, get all the impurities off...
Prime it with whatever primer you have
Spray your wheel paint on in multiple layers. Let it dry and than spray again.
Spray lots and lots of clear coat on. of course you need to let it dry in between layers to get that nice shiny smooth surface...

    Here are the end results...

    Hope this helps yah

Yeah, they were just two wires on the DRL's that needed to be connected. I wired my DRL's to my parking lights. Kind of mickey moused it, but hey, it works.

    They still work fine ^_^
