Arrow What have you fixed on your 202 lately?

Stole this idea from benzworld. It's a pretty good way of keeping traffic up in the repairs thread. I believe the repairs section is the most important forum we have.

    I'll start.

Replaced idler pulley, tightened belt, and finally replaced front right shock. It's a major pain in the ass with how hard it is to reach the top nuts.

Isolated oil leak and transmission leak. Both were at the cooler lines on the radiator. I'd left them too loose after the belt tensioner replacement job.

Still need to track down AC leak and figure out why it sometimes blows scalding hot air when in stop and go city traffic on HOT days. Still need to completely flush transmission and change filter. Need headliner and new radio amplifier... Amps in these things are not easy to replace.

Are you talking about the stock amp?

Yep. Front channels have completely died. Only rear door speakers sometimes work, sometimes they fizzle out to nothing.

I have a slow coolant leak coming from the radiator drain plug. I'll let it be for now since I only drive it 4 miles a day. I suspect it's the rubber o-ring.

    You have a C36. I would MURDER for a C36! The ultimate M104 car!

Why the new manifolds? Did you upgrade or replace with new OEM?

Does replacing your cats make any difference? I know cats eventually die, but what is the benefit in replacing them?

Supposedly, there are high flow cats out there. Do they really flow high? Beats me. I've gotten mixed responses with one coming from a muffler shop that does racing on the side.

Maybe lighter, or cat removal if you are running more than one.

the c36 has 180.000 miles on her so just stock new exhaust system why change what works ( sunday car )

the c240 v6 sport (c43 replica) had a maf go on it and dumped a lot of fuel in exhaust and burned out cats and cracked inner lining on manifolds (every day runner )

the benefits reduced emissions and also you notice the exhaust gets hotter as it working at it best

c36 's are selling from 1,500 to 5,000 euro at he moment in europe , their is a c43 the most expensive one i know supercharged c43 OME engine , up at 10,000 euro ,link to c43

I'm starting to wonder of all teh things I could start replacing to breath some life back into my 1994 C280 with 250k miles. The engine still purrs like a kitten, but just doesn't have the same thrust it used to have. I know it needs timing chain and EGR, but I can't think of anything else. I just hope it's not lost compression...

I found a C43 for sale locally for $5,500. It has 230k miles on it though. Yikes.

Had my C43 checked by my mech last weekend says he cant find no issues with the car if you paid him, all it needed was a new steering shock dampner (which made so much difference) and a rubber hanger in the back for the exhaust. Very happy!!!

replaced front brake pads. last time I replaced them was in 2000. For some reason, the sensor wasn't indicating bad brakes. Not sure what's going on there... But they are replaced with OEM pads none-the-less.

flushed out brake fluids & coolant.

I can't remember when I did the brake fluid flush prior to this but it may have been around 50k miles ago.

Coolant flush was done end of 2009 prior.

Should I post all the things I have accomplished thus far on the never ending project?

    Lets see.

New rear rotors, calipers, pads, and e-brake.
    New transmission.
    New flex joints.
New audio. Nothing fancy, just removed the Bose amp, and 5 pounds of unneeded wiring. Removed the rear door speakers, and replaced the rear shelf and front door speakers.
    New steering link.
    New drag link bushing.
    New steering damper.
New rear LCA bushings. I used the ADUS 597, and modified the LCA and bushing to allow greasing with a fitting.
    New SLK32/Crossfire SRT front rotors.
    New SLK32/Crossfire SRT front calipers.
    Goodridge stainless brake lines.

    Forgot:
Mechanical oil pressure gauge. Pics later.

    New Vogtland springs.
    New Bilstein shocks.
New floormats. The originals were toast.

Hail damaged top half of all panels. The car was dark blue now it's satin/matte black and it's epic. Seen it two days ago 90% finished. Lost license for 6 months and I get it back tomo and pick the car up next day. Very happy at the moment..
Matte Black is the new Black.....

Hail damaged? What the hell kind of hail was it? I've walked out to countless parking lots full of hail damaged cars after a storm to find my MB completely dent free.

Boy I wish I could get a manual for my c43!!

fixed a broken fog light. Next day I hit a rabbit at 80mph and broke it loose. Fixed the other fog light, hit something else apparently and shattered the lens. Joy.
