The mileage is stored electronically on each instrument cluster. Since there are some tweaks and upgrades to the cluster for the 98' and 99' year, I don't recommended trying to hook one up with a later MY.
As I understood, the mileage will remain the same if i change the cluster, as it is stored electronically?
Why so serious?

Really? That sucks... so if I just find one that fits, how can I get it to show the real mileage? My one is really messed up, so I WILL have to swap it to another one. Sure, I can replace the flat cables (I have the known "pixel problem"), there is a risk I'll mess them up, and they cost almost as much as a "new" cluster off eBay. What would you do if you had this problem?
