    Slow C36

To cut a long storey short i found myself up against a 94 C36 amg on a long bypass in my 99 C230 k manual and i left him for dust, i mean i knew it was not a C180 cos i was not loosing him but the gap was big so i let off at 120MPH it must be cos of his 17 year old auto box lol. i was quite shocked as there meant to have 80BHP more. He really wasnt happy.
Mines de badged and has the amg wheels on and massive loud air filters so god knows what he thought mine was.

Interesting. No offense, but perhaps something was wrong with his car? Same car but almost 100 HP more? He should have won. Nice run regardless. Bet it was fun.

you mean the replica amg wheels lol. it was definetly a c36. My mates got a c43 and a ml55 the ml goes really well for the size of the thing it eats m3's all day. I put it down to mine being a manual.

All AMGs are autos. Trust me they wouldn't sell the C36 like that if a manual lesser car was faster. My money is on the car wasn't running well. He has 80hp on you and weighs the same.

At 4.30 in the morning i let off at 120 he carried on to at least 140. The c43 has been off the road since ive had mine cos its been restored its very rusty. It must not be running like it was when it was new i agree but it was a spotless car and sounded awesome and had some good top end

srry you are wrong the 0-60 time from factory aint right it does 5.5-5.6 in real life and In GOOD condition. don't tell me i'm wrong people have done quarter miles with the c36 and got these results. Your 230 is quick! but not an amg my friend.

i was quoting the book time thats all i dont own one so i dont know. i looked at getting a c36 and what put me off is they sell for over 2 grand mine was 900 there like a 94 mines a 99 there ugly inside the insurance is expensive and they have a grandad gearbox and whilst ive got the use of my left arm and leg i will have a manual. dont get me wrong i love autos just not in that kind of performance car , in a big cl 55 or jag xjr but not a c class. I dont know why people are getting shirty i was only saying i raced one and pulled his pants down. I drive amg's everyday im a mechanic at a mercedes specialist. where i live the rich cocks have kleemans , brabus's let them fuel the things im getting 35mpg plus im happy

C36's that are in good condition are probably held by people who appreciate them, but there are those few... haha.

The C36 make almost 280 stock, you dont need a turbo for 24 more HP. You only need intake, exhaust and maybe a tune. Hell I gained about 30 hp from an intake and exhaust. 300hp from a 3.6L is child's play. A turbo would give you much more.

In holland c36 has 280pk we call it so I only will gain 20 from intake (gruppe M) and eisenmann race muffler. If I still need hp I will chip tune it to give it another 20 hp

thats what i was thinking so what horse power is it at the wheels. but saying that i had a vauxhall cavalier sri 8v 130bhp at the fly and the thing was quick i took it to a rolling road and it pulled 150bhp and the thing was 15 years old the guy said its been cammed , i didnt know but he said your airflow meter has gone and your coil is crap and your plugs have all burnt out fix them and it will be like 160 plus this is at th wheels. anyway on further investigation i pulled the e.c.u lid off and it had been chipped so thats a big gain off a cam and chip. needles to say it blew up in spectacular fasion firing con rods out the block lol. The first owner must of done the work. Oh the tourqe was off the graph. to get real power and for a lot less money a turbo is needed

Good question, my guess is the M111 has a very restricitve factory intake and exhaust. Check my thread with dyno results, it translates to 216hp at the crank, they make 185 stock.

c36 make's 220 at the wheel wich is 275 fly wheel, i'm going for 295-300 by exhaust/intake. It's hard to dyno proof it since the intake doesn't work a 100% on a dyno!

very true, I would recommend finding someone with a dyno dynamics dyno because they are much more consistent than a dyno jet.
