Gas Fume at the right rear tire

I was cleaning my right rear tires the other day and I smelled a slight gas fume. Is this normal. I sniffed at the gas cover and there were no fumes. Is this normal?

It might mean there is a leak somewhere. And that is not good. Or perhaps you got gas recently and either ran over a puddle of gas or spilled some gas?

I looked under the car specifaccly where the gas filter is but didn't find any leak. Am I missing a spot?

the gas filler is located on the right side of the, in the fenderwell. check to see if the vent tube or filler tube is leaking.

Is it inside the trunk on the right side?

It's underneath the trunk, right side of the spare wheel chamber. There is a plastic cover held in place by 3 screws. You'll see a tube with in/out hoses. It might be loose clamp.
