96 uk c230k charger not working..

The charger isn't spooling, and the electronic bypass valve stays open.

Now if i manually close the valve, air is forced through the charger turning the clutched charger pulley.

When i rev the engine with the bypass left open, the pulley doesn't engage the clutch. well it seems to catch now and again but that's it.

I've ordered a "new" bypass valve for £28... but after thinking about it, it's probably the electronic clutched pulley causing the issue?

I've searched for a new one, but can only find some on the usa ebay for 600 and something $.
Am i right in thinking their is an aftermarket performance item?
Where do you suggest getting the normal clutch pulley, and where do you suggest getting an aftermarket performance item.

Probably a connection. Do you have a check engine light? Something similar happened to me, turns out the maf sensor was loose.
    Completely mad.

nope, no engine light. i've cleaned all the maf, tb, and checked all for boost leaks.

if it isn't the pulley clutch, i'm kind of stumped, unless it's a loose connection, but surely that'd throw a light up?

Guess i need to scan it!

has anyone converted to a non clutched pulley? I'm guessing you'd have to retrofit a mechanical dump valve instead of the electronic bypass.I've heard someone put some self tapping screws in the clutch/pulley thus engaging it constantly. I'm not sure if the bypass valve would work then? If it didn't work then surely the charger would be bypassed all the time anyway? Unless he blocked that pipe, but wouldn't the pressure build too high ofeft on tkckover?***
