Talking What you need to know on Double stacking Spring pad ... :D

This question has been asked many times before on benzsport and bnzsport ....

so I am going to share with club202 family how I have been doing it.

AS some of you know, I am double stacking spring pad on the rear
I have a pad sandwich which consist of older pad (w201 part) and newer pad (w210).

This is how the older pad looks like (w201) part early W202 chassis (94-mid 96 )
As you can see there are groves on the side wall, but the base of the pad is flat, which a good match for the early model spring as well that has tappered end

Now I am going to use this pad ass the main pad.

First what I did is dremmelled off the grove on the sidewall, and make the side wall smoother
Here is what the pad look like after being smoothened out...

Now as you can see below the difference between newer and older pad.

The newer pad has a grove on its base so that the spring can sit it propertly, where the older pad has flat based and to be used with older spring (tappered spring)

Now I am going to use the newer pad (my stock pad #1(w210 part) as an insert for the main pad (older W201 part)

And voila the pad is stacked now

Make sure that they will sit properly == no gap

it's pretty simple and straight forward right..

    Hope this helps

    For a scenario,

You have lowered your car to a perfect height on 18's
Front and rear is balanced out.

Now you're thinking getting an ICE then the rear is lowered even more.
You want to maintain that perfect drop that you have before.

But even after using the pad#4 (210 pad for the rear) the car is still too slammed.

Then it's time to double-stacked baby..

Then you'd want to upgrade to 19" and that means the car need to be raised again a litl bit .....

but you know what I am getting at.

I used to havepad#3 -18mm (W201 rear) double stack with pad#1-5mm(210 pad before) on my rear, and I recently changed one side to pad#2-13mm(210 pad) double stack with pad#1-5mm(210 pad).

So I guess you are getting 19's now huh?
So, how about a pic of your perfectly slammed car, we need an example....for documentation....

Unfortunately I still want to enjoy my 18

Scotty This is the height that I would considered perfect for me.
Looks good, with no gap all around, but yet I can still do aggressive driving, cornerning - drifting

But then again, "perfect" is relative as everyone has their own opinion..

(keep in mind, this the pic when I already have sound system).
So say if I take the whole sound system out, the rear would be raised, so I'll need to switch to thinner pad on the back.
Likewise if I ever decided to put (2) JL13W7 or (2) IDMAX 12, which by way those are heavy ass subwoofer the rear would be slammed even further, and when I am already maxed out at pad#4(210 pad) that's when I need to double stacked

Thats tight!! I wanted stacked pads but some mechanic said this was faulty and could come off during cornering hard. I needed it because of sag in the rear. But after seein how you did it i will on my next 202!! thanks mang

SWEEETTT.........now my dream getting 19' is closer. I don't have to get a new set of springs because I cut them pretty low so my 18' wheels a bit tucked in

alright guys, i know this is an old post about double stacking but i wanted to double check im reading it right. What i need is the #1 spring pad for the w201 and spring pad for w210? If i wanted to gain about half an inch to 3/4 of an inch, what size paddings do i need for both?

anyone still reading this post? can the original poster reply, thanks

that would be depend on what thickness of spring pad you currently have, and you should be able to figure out, the thickness you need to have it raise 1/2-3/4"

i have a '98 43 and lowered it with vogtlands and have #4 pads all around and would actually like to raise all 4 corners a little bit to get that "perfect" drop. what pads would i need to "fill" the pads i have right now? from what chassis number?
