Cool Swapping out stock graphite c280 driver's seat for something special...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/250859170568...84.m1439.l2649

Even being a total n00b on here I figured anything coming out of a c36 AMG w202 would be more supportive than the stock seat. That, and my stock seat is pretty worn out.

I had some money to do one last mod, and I wanted this one to be something I could hopefully change out that was a direct bolt-on swap without significant alterations. I was craving severely a more sporty/aggressively bolstered seat for fun driving, and before I got into bad territory by putting in some eBay seat, I found this stock AMG seat from our cars and figured why not.

My interior will no longer match as I have the grey/graphite color, but maybe down the road I can have an upholstery shop make some nice leather covers to have it match again.

I see this seat is heated. My car has no provisions for heated seats. Is there a way to set up something to get them working>

Has anyone ever swapped one of these in a c230 or a c280? If not, I'm going to take lots of pics and maybe once it's in I can do some sort of writeup/tutorial.

    Opinions and comments appreciated!

P.S. I am possibly looking to compliment this seat with a possible camlock harness so eventually I get my car roadworthy enough to do some occasional auto cross. Is there a simple, safe and relatively straight forward way to put in a harness without significant fabrication required in my car? I'm also looking for it to not interfere with the stock seatbelt, so I can still use it if I'm not in a need to have such a spiffy harness on.

I just cant picture autocross being all that fun in a W202 ( especially a heavy boat c280) unless you own a modded c36 or c43 I wouldnt even waste my time with a harness or even the occasional autocross Unless you plan to turbo the M104 in that bad boy first. To many things can break that cost way to much to fix and its just not worth it to dump the amount of money needed to make a 202 autocross worthy if you're a college student on a limited budget like you have stated in previous post. get a e36 m3 if you want to autocross rofl.

I'm not by any means trying to turn this into a sports car....but my goal is to try and go for a euro-sport look, or make it as sporty as possible without taking away the core things that make it comfy and a benz. I just thought since It's my general belief that most German cars are anally designed to have balanced power and handling that this might be possible, with some simple upgrades and keeping the engine pretty much stock.

and that pic was taken about 6 years ago. just got my license! not the best handling car but still a ton of fun. 195 width tires aren't the grippiest things.

i dont know who this guy is...but he can sure wheel that truck around.

great vids, you sure know how to drive!

Every w202 I've driven stayed remarkably composed despite body roll. My 94 C280 had almost no body roll back when it was new. I got it in 99 with 14k miles on it. Despite sitting 10 feet high, it handled extremely well.

14 years and 265k miles later, on it's STILL BONE STOCK SUSPENSION ALL OVER, it still handled like a champ. Naturally, no where near what a proper sports car can do, but surprisingly able considering it's a 3,500lb under-powered german sedan.

    My seat is in!

The only thing that's got me worried is while swapping both seats in and out was a snap, I'm worried the seat I got in now has accident damage. It's almost like the seat bottom on the left-hand side is a lot lower than the right side, and it definately doesn't feel level while driving. The C36 my seat came out of was from a 95, and mine is a 96....I'm not sure if there were any differences in the heights of the seats, but the new one I put in seems noticeably higher than my stock one.

    Input?
