DOES Bilstien sport shocks from a 1998 fit the same as a 1999?

for my 99 c280 i plan on buying a set of used shocks off a 98. checked the part numbers on tire rack
    front- B36-1854
rear- B36-1855 (24-018-555.. This number is also on it)
THE REARS CHECK OUT FINE but im not sure about the front. can anyone tell me if they fit.

**btw im not sure how the search bar works but eveytime i try to search a old thread nothing comes up, even when i know it has been covered** so excuse if it already has been covered

Yes, the 97-00 springs have an upper contact point that is helix shaped. The earlier 94-96 cars have a flat top coil spring shape and require different spring pads.

late to the party .. is it not "wasteful" to buy used shocks? How is the op finding the shocks to be since he installed them?

Depends. Used shocks in good condition that can be rebuild would be good if the price is right.

The only time I would buy used shocks is if one or both of the two reasons below apply-

    1) I new the person selling them and the history of them to be taken off a car that was in an accident and parting out,

and 2) I could first feel them off the car by pushing in and pulling out the piston shts to see if they all feel qdequate resistence and smoothness (not blow, worn-out, nor damaged from an accident.

Otherwise? Yes it would be a very high potential tht one would wate their money on crap old shocks.
