    Winter Tires

    Hey all,
I live in MA, so winters here are unpredictable. Usually, a moderate to good amount of snowfall. I think the most we had in one day was like 19" in my town, but that doesn't happen daily

I'm looking at Michelin Arctic Alpin's or Bridgestone Blizzaks. Anyone have any experience with anyone of these two or both perhaps? Thanks.

In the past seasons, I've been using my all-seasons. The ContiCH95 seems to fair well in my parents 01 S500. I got the Conti's in January, so it has seen winter already, and it did a pretty decent job of getting me through.

gdawg, the previous owner slapped on a set of Futura Super Sport M+S tires (sort of an oxymoron if you think about it...nothing "Super Sport" about the tire company Futura or M+S tires in general) but they get the job done on my 202. however, i havent tried either of the tires you mentioned. have you checked tire rack out yet? if not heres the link for the Arctic Alpins: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....l=Arctic-Alpin

and the link for the Blizzaks WS-50s:

according to the tire rack rating system, the arctic alpins are better than the blizzaks. BUT the dunlop winter sport m2s blow both of them out of the water:

...for just $3 per tire more than the blizzaks ($81 for each dunlop) id go for them...if youre tight on $$$, youre best bet would be the arctic alpins, but i would not get the blizzaks no matter what.

Blizzaks all the way, either the WS-50 for better snow traction or the LM-22 for high performance snow. These are by far the best manufactured winter tires for noise and all around performance.

100% for the Blizzaks. I drove my friends 91 explorer w/o 4 wheel drive in some nasty winter conditions and his Blizzaks were great. he also told me that they feel good on dry pavement.
