What larger discs & calipers for 16'' wheels?

    Guys,

I want to retain 16'' wheels on my car but would like the option of fitting larger discs & calipers, current front discs are standard 288mm. The question is what one's are a direct fit. Ideally I'd like to go alloy calipers too. I've heard the W124 500E have 300mm discs with Brembo alloy calipers and they have 16'' wheels as standard, would these fit? Or is there another option as the I'd imagine the 500E's are not too easy to come by? Two things: One I want to buy used rather than new and two, I'd like something that's a direct fit if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like the C36 rotors are 316mm and use a 4 piston caliper and they'd bolt on with no mods.

Thanks guys. That would be great if the C36's do the job. Are those size calipers fitted to any other Merc would anybody know?

fronts are from a 600sl or something, rears are from a 400e

That would be great as I have tried to find info with photos but there seems to be a bit of confusion.

the c36 rotors can't be larger than c43 rotors.
    c43 had 334mm

    c32 had 345mm

No, I think Chisel86 is correct @ 316mm. When I was looking for info some suppliers on eBay were offering Brembo 288mm discs for C36's. Which just adds to the confusion. Also one breakers yard stated that W208 CLK 430 front calipers were suitable for C36's but the photo of the part showed a sliding caliper with one piston. So, you can understand I want to have my facts & specifications correct before buying.

You can't trust ebay for application fitment. That's why I don't buy things that I'm uncertain about from there.

It appears that the C36 front caliper was exclusive to the C36 which might make them hard to find. The rears were also used on the W210, so no issue there. Rear rotors are 290 instead of 278 and will also bolt on.

Yes, again I reckon you're correct. Hopefully at some stage I'll track a set down at the right money. Have seen set a couple of sets on eBay Germany but silly money. For now the most important thing is that I know they are direct fit and there's no issue using 16'' standard alloys.

    Thanks guys.

The Centric reman part number is 14235142 and 14235141 (L&R) so do a web search and pick your vendor. FYI the photos on all those pages are stock photos and do not represent the actual item. It will look like this:

Oh, I'm well versed in buying online and suppliers getting their facts wrong and using generic photos. So, no worries there. Cheers for the info Chisel86
