    resetting the service miles

    can someone teach me how to reset the service mileage? (its the wrench thingy) i have a 1999 c230k...im asking because i never got a manual with the car

    get in ur car.. close the door, put key in ignition, turn to position 2, hit r button on left side of cluster 2 times (below plus/minus buttons), turn ignition to off, press and hold r button again and turn ignition back to position 2.. wait until the fss resets.. should be 10 seconds or so.. maybe longer.

    I have tried this instruction , but still can't reset the service mileage..

    Please help.. !!

    I think you still need to have the button pressed when switching from position 2 to zero.

    each time I do it it takes me a few times to get it right

    make sure your door is closed.. put the key in the ignition and turn from position 0 (zero) to position 2.. press the (0) button (under the plus and minus on the cluster) 2 times and let go, switch the key to the 0 position, press and hold the 0 button within 5 seconds of performing the whole deal and switch ignition back to position 2 and hold (0) until the FSS resets.. should be 10-15 seconds.

    hey but is it really necessary to close the door? I've done it few days ago, door open and no problem.

    depends on the year of the car.. Ive done some where it wouldnt let me reset with the door open.. why, I dont know!
