Talking MB radio aux input installation

I've been using my ipod in the car with a tape adapter and wanted better sound. I bought an aux input adapter which allows me to use an auxillary audio source (mp3 player, portable cd player) via my cd changer connector on my MB radio.

    item:

MB/AUX DMX V.1A Mercedes Benz 94-98 to AUX Behind Radio $83

I got it from chris at http://www.enfig.com

run your RCA to stereo cable

connect the rca's to the aux adapter audio connectors. (and tape them)

reinstall the radio. enter the radio code. press the cd button.
should read "cd 1 track 99"

plug in your aux audio source and enjoy.

No, the ipod is still controlled by pressing the ipod buttons. There is a company that sells a product like that. They are called dension. http://icelink.densionusa.com/

there "ice-link" and comes with an aux cd changer adapter and ice-link controller for ipod. You keep the factory radio and control the ipod from the radio. Its $200 but there isnt a kit yet for mercedes.

for $88 I have the same thing except I change tracks on the ipod.

in any case, the ipod and radio are mounted side by side.
If I can lean over and press the radio buttons might as well lean over (one inch more) and press the ipod buttons instead.

there are also rumors of a headunit type bay with display and remote coming out soon for the ipods.

I didnt understand your VW question. Any you asking about mounts for new VW's or telling me to check them out?

I was telling you about the new bettle that comes with ipod mounting from the factory. I was wondering if you ever considering that option.

The new bettles actually come with a belkin car kit (i watched the video)

    1. belkin tape adapter
    2. belkin power charger with built in amp (prone to grood loop problems)
    3. TuneDok Car Holder for iPod (sits in your cup holder, no more coffee)

these are all available from the belkin website. Not a very nice
    setup.

    here is the video :

    http://www.apple.com/ipod/vw/video/

if you pause it at the right time (2/3 into video) you can see the tape adapter and cup holder thingy and the power adapter is just sitting under the dash unplugged. lol

    :confused

Benzdude, does that replace the CD changer input altogether, so no more changer just aux or does/can you splice it to have both? and what kind of mount is that? it looks very clean.

No, the cd changer is disconnected. I suppose you could always find a way to switch between them.

The mount is from radio shack. I was lucky to find a phone mount with enough room on the end to fit the monster icharger dock connector. ( I had to cut a little out in the center)

that way I can just slip the ipod in and out without a fuss. (the pins on the sides are retracted.)

    here is a close up

    tools:

    1. blitzsafe aux input adapter. MB/AUX DMX V.1A Mercedes Benz 94-98 to AUX connects behind factory radio at 10 pin cd changer connector.

    2. rca to stereo cable
    3. New monster icharger (with dock connector and line out)
    4. Radio shack clear universal phone mount
    5 12 volt accessory outlet

    Wink

I wanted a clean install, so I wired the monster car charger behind the console.

The charger plugs into the 12 volt accessory outlet and the outlet is wired to the ground and 12 volt wires at the back or the acc/cig lighter. (So the charger turns off when car is off)

I didn’t want to disassemble the charger.

    Benzdude,

are you happy with your iCharger? Where did you buy it from?
I might want to integrate my ipod with my existing system.

    Yes.

It will work with any device that has a line out or head phone jack.

The rca to stereo cable has a headphone (stereo) jack on one end.

Resurrected an old thread. Anyone on the site use this adapter? Im interested in putting this adapter in my car but the pics arent up anymore. Is it easy to do? I dont have very much experience with radio's and taking apart electronics in general. Where would I plug in my mp3 player?

That adapter works great, however, now there are a million other ways to connect your ipod to your car.

the adapter plugs into your mp3 player headphone jack or line out.

What are the easier ways other than an FM transmitter and this? I want to retain the stock look still. What i meant to ask was where do the adapter plugs come out of? I've seen people have it come out the armrest. And is radio code necessary?
