Sun Visor with built in garage remote

I have a 96 C280 Sport and would like to know if I can replace the sun visor with one from an E class or I dont know if the newer C's had that built in. I just purchased a new house and dont like having the garage door opener as an extra thing in the car.

    Thanks,
    Brad

My w202 is a 97 and I have the integrated garage door opener on
    my visor.
There have been quite a few questions on this topic including
how to program them to work with your automatic garage door
    opener.

I bought my house in 2000 and have tried numerous times to
program my integrated opener with my garage opener with
no luck. This is because my garage opener changes code
randomly everytime the clicker is used. FYI, my garage door
opener brand is LiftMaster Pro-line (Chamberlain).

My other house (built in 87) came with an old model garage
opener so I was able to program it with no problem.

Perhaps if you try a newer model visor (like the E-class you mentioned) it might work. Try it.

there should be a button or swich on the garage opener control unit that would allow a car based remote to be programmed to it.... try contacting the manufacturer if you don't have an owner's manual...

vas2vas: I contacted the manuf. to see if they can help.
They couldn't unfortunately. The learn module in the
garage door opener is not compatible with the MBZ's openers.
(I guess this is true only for my model year).

AND: Yes I tried it several times...no biggie my remote is only the
size of a key fob anyway.

Sorry about hijacking your thread Austin...

    hvmercy,

I think it should still work - I would say 90 to 95% of all garage door openers on the market are homelink compatible (which is what MB controllers use).

Not sure if you have done this already, but for rolling code garage door openers, you'll need to:

    1) Copy the code from your existing door remote to your MB opener first (by pressing and holding button 1 (for example) on your MB controller until it blinks slowly (but do not let go of the button), then press and hold the button on your garage door opener - the led on the MB opener will blink rapidly. Once this happens, you can release both buttons). Be careful - when you press the button on your garage door opener, your garage door will open/close obviously - make sure nothing and no one is near the door!

    2) You'll then need to press the learn button on your garage door motor. Press it, then press the button on your MB controller (it maybe better if you have another person sitting in the car to press the MB button). Your garage door motor light should flash and this confirms the learning process. You should be able to open/close your garage door using your MB controller.

    3) Test your existing remote controller to make sure it's still functioning properly.

Hope this helps and let me know if it works for you.
