    help..1995 C36 Front Brake Rotors....

    Hello,

I've been visiting this site for a while, but never registered till now.

Quick question for you guys.........I'm changing the front rotors on my 95 C36 and I can't seem to find the correct rotor from Brembo or any other manf than Benz.

What I need is the part# for Brembo front rotors.

    From what I'm told...the benz part# is: WA 202 421 0112
but according to Brembo this number does not exist (another early AMG mystery).

C36 front brake specs: 12.6" (320mm) They come off an S600.

The S600 did have 320mm rotors like my C36, but there are three different listings from Brembo.

    MB S600 (W140) 95-98 #09.5704.30
    MB S600 (W140) 95 #09.5704.20
    MB S600 (W140) 95-96 #09-5704-30

I love these hand built cars!!!!

    Thanks!

    Hello

if your car really has rotors wilth part no 202 421 0112 - seems you have no other option except MB original part
as this part does not have any analogue

from other side some C36 were supplied with following rotors 210 421 07 12/210 421 24 12 - but they have dia 288 mm and have Brembo no. 09.6845.10

you can have a look also on brembo on-line catalogue at
    http://catalogo.brembo.it/eng/catalo...arch_model.asp
    probably it will help you

    Thanks for the reply!

I have searched up and down and have come up with nothing!
You are correct....I have to buy original parts.

I have been told that the brakes on my car (320mm) came off an S600 and to use those. Well......the C36 brakes are no where close to any rotor available from Brembo or anyone else. The other Benzes may have 320mm (12.6 inch) rotors....but the width is waaaaaaaaaaay off. The S or SL class rotors would not even clear the caliper because they reach so far back! The width of a C36 rotor is approx 38-44mm....the S class rotors are 77mm....big difference.

The basic rotor design for a C36 may have come from a bigger benz, but from what I have found....it's one of a kind! Also has an HWA part number!

    thanks!

This is kind of unrelated, but i have a 190e and i recently got a full set of 95 C36 brakes. I knew i was going to have to swap out the hub/knuckle assembly, but i just wanted to see what the clearance was like. Heres some pics:

As you can see, im having the exact opposite problem as you. So mabey if we trade hub assemblies and rotors we would both have working setups! hahaha actually i have no idea if the kuckles are interchangable...

    i beg to differ.
    95 C36 320mm Front Rotor:

    3 cm (30 MM) thick

And the 320mm SL front rotor specs:
    12.6 320 x 30 1993-98 SL600, 1994-98 SL500 - Directional rotors - Not sure on SL500 year range

So basically the problem all you 95 C36 guys have is that you can get the right rotor as far as diameter and width goes, but the offset is way too high (IE it 'sucks' too far into your wheel well.) Depending on what wheels you are running, some members could simply buy rotor spacers or have some made. I know of one company that does them for BMW, but they run about $2-300 for a set. It would be any easy thing for any machine shop to do. Basically the only problem with that method is, how ever far back the SL600 rotor disc (without spacers) sits in your wheel well is going to be how much EXTRA the SL600 rotor hat is going to stick OUT of your wheel well once you install the spacers. So if it sticks out an extra inch, then you will have to be running wheels that accomidate that extra inch. Or i suppose you could buy a spacer for your wheel then as well, but that could cause rubbing issues. If your wheel doesnt currently allow for the extra clearance, i would just keep paying the stealership prices on rotors. Its not like they need replacment that often.

From the sounds of things, the C36 brake upgrade i am planning may work out after all. The SL600 rotor IS compatable with the 95 C36 caliper provided you get it to sit in there right (in your case: spacers, in my case: my hub that sticks wayy out)

AH! I just saw your mistake! You got S600 rotors, not SL600!! Big difference man!
