CUTTING BUMPER in way of exhaust

As per title, I've already searched but without good result, does someone have ever performed this bumper cutting? I refer to the non AMG model in order to well fit a sport exhaust.

    thanks a lot

    I fitted a C36 muff to mine...
took off the back bumper, fitted the exhaust...
put the bumper back on as close as possible..
marked out the new cutt out..
used a 100mm grinder to carefully cut it out... but dont go too
close to your cuttout line...just get close enough to use sand paper.its also a good idea to continually re-fit the bumper as you grind it to make sure you dont over cut!!...mercedes charge heaps for that little plastic strip on the bottom off you bumper and then you gotta paint it!!!.,I had to replace mine after i chopped off my massive twin straight through muffs.
    Good luck

    Paul

thanks a lot for your kind reply. Don't you have a photo?

Your is a up-dated model like mine with the "little plastic strip" below the bumper? Considering that particular shape, the cut is quite different (the strip is curved)

    Thanks again

sorry no photos at the moment(wish I had a digi cam )...
yes it is the updated rear bumper...
the C36 tips are cut about 20mm up into the rounded bottom lip, i spent alot of time making the cutout about 5mm bigger than the tip so it fits perfect...also be aware that when your exhaust heats up it expands an shifts quit alot iv noticed.
    goodluck.

    Regards.

23K you are really nice with the reply you have posted thanks a lot, in my previous post I had not time to thank you as I would

Actually I'm wondering for a remus or supersprint exhaust and I'm wondering if I will prefer to customize the end of the bumper (as You) or to keep it lower than the bumper. The problem, in my opinion is that the sport exhaust tend to be too much bigger (I refer to the end pipes) respect a stock W202 look.

    I'm still confused.

Do you noticed any difference (power and/or sound) with your C36 muff? I do not thing so much.

    Thanks again

    Thanks,glad to be of help...
I personally think the tips look better cut into the bumper, but it must be cut tidy, and not to far up into the bumper....
my first exhaust i made form 2.5" mandrel bends with 1 big resonator and two big straight through muffs at the end...
This was way too loud,so i added another resonator, this helped
    but was to loud still...
so i chopped of the duel muffs and put the C36 muff on and now its not much louder than factory...
so im thinking of taking one of the resonators out to improve sound....as i found it can be very expensive making this sort of mistakes.
I dont think there has been any improvement in power,it looks the part though
I will steel the digicam from work tonight and try get pics here in the next few days..

    Regards,
    Paul

Thanks again for the info. I'm sure, also without photo, you have done really a good job, as accurate you seem to me.

Dear Paul I've appreciated a lot your kind effort to post the pictures. Thanks a lot. I really like how it look. I'd like to do the same asap, considering now I've to solve my problem of balancing (brake disc or wheels??) after replacing the brake

    Again thanks

Nice car. You have silver painted the name "kompressor" in the engine bay!

hey man no worries...let us know how you get on later.

I cut one side of my C36 bumper in order to match the other side so I could fit a quad exhaust. Very easy.

Looks good! I guess most people go with the square amg tips instead of the round ones... How much worse do you think it will look if you don't cut the bumper away?

thanks, actually iv seen alot more round tips than square...
I personally think the square suit 202 more...
the problem with going under the bumper is the muffler angles down and looks funny i think...
    but everyone to there own
