i thought the c36 has the same bore as the 3.2 but has been stroked to 3.6ltr?
Has the Factory 1995 C36 head gasket been superceeded, by a new part number that has the metal reinforcements, so the head-gasket doen't recede over time and cause a leak ?
If so, what is that part number ?
I had to try two dealers before they could understand that an E320 or C280 head-gasket is different in size than the C36 head-gasket (H WA 104 016 01 20).
If not, does Elring sell one with the correct diameter and reinforcements ?
BTW: the Factory 3.6 head-gasket is stamped "Elring".
Thanks,
:-) neil

Nope. C36 and C32 block is different! C36 uses the same block from the diesel motor. I maybe wrong, I believed the bore on the diesel is bigger.Originally posted by c280nz

C36 has 3.5-liter diesel crank for longer stroke, and the bore was increased 1-mm.Originally posted by c280nz

In short, you can't use the stock C280 or E320 M104 head-gasket.
I've heard of some people putting in some sort of liquid gasket on both ends even if there is a metal reinforcement.
Anyone know what liquied gasket that would be ?
