No, you don't need to "shave" the emblems off your car -

You can simply get some dental floss/fishing wire and Goo Gone and take off the badges.

The modding term for such action is "debadging"

So from what I understand, if you want to debadge a car, is this correct?

    * heat the badge with a common hair dryer until it is warm to the touch and you can slightly start to pry it up.

    * work dental floss underneath badge and start to "saw" away at the adhesive across the badge.

    * behold the remaining gummy residue.

    * use Goo B Gone to clean off residue.

    * re-wax area and viola! You now have a dark shadow of the badge you just removed!

Well, is this pretty much how to do it? And how long do you heat up the badges anyway? I hear too hot can damage the paint?

Debadging is for slow cars like the C230. That way people actually look at our cars and think that they might be fast. Where as if you were to keep your badges people know not to mess with you and they won't laugh at you, because your car is tight and it says that it is tight on the back. I took the emblems off my car, so people would quit laughing that it is only a C230, you don't have to do that.

Well, I guess I should be pretty proud of my track time the other week. My buddy with a 01 M3 and I went down to the local race strip. He ran a mere 13.4 (stock), but my time was incredible (I even have the time slips to prove it)........18.534 was my first run, then 17.786, and finally 17.600. So all you AMG owners better watch out when you see this C230 coming. Oh yah, I believe a stock Honda runs 17.2!!!

you can debadge the silver cars with out issue, But considering you have the new AMG style badge- I would leave it. Debagging AMG's is only really an improvement if it is has the ghetto 95 AMG badge like mine.
