don't you have the ASR switch?
how do we shut this terrible option off, almost 300hp and i cant make it slide sideways ever, i have done some crazy tiff driving to try to break it lose, but nope ,,,,
anyone know how this ASR works and how to disable it
thanks
Dave

pull the fuse in the fuse box ?
isn't there a kill switch that renntech sells or something. Heard its quite costly tho. Heh I have no problem getting my car sideways tho
almost 300hp to the crank! id say your car has maybe 235hp to the wheels? and the c43 has maybe 247 to teh wheels?
anyways.. I thought their was a switch.. their is one on mine right in the middle of the dash.. you will know when its off becuzz the caution light apears on your gauge cluster.
taking a break from teh 202 ->
the C43 and C36 are almost identical in hp numbers to the rear wheels there 0-60 times are only off by 0.01 seconds
even when that triangle is up on your cluster the program is still running its not off its just a bit more forgiving you need to be on snow or water to get it to slide around how you would like to.
C36 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds.
C43 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
oh I thought the lighter c36 engine was faster 0-60 but after that the c43 catches up.. hmm...
thats weird.. in both c230k and slk55 I am able to break the tires loose and get sideways.. much harder in teh c230 due to lack of power
actually.. come to think of it.. you are right.. I am only able to drift around city corners when its got a flooded intersection or its raining.. or when its in loose gravle. in the c230k that is

btw, the C36 engine is heavier than that of the C43Originally posted by alphanumeric

there is a ASR switch and that is the first thing i do once the AMG is started, it makes it alittle more aggesive but pretty lame, my 190e 16v breaks lose every time i need or want it to 167 hp too
0-60 6.8 sec
i had a rental from the dealer it was a C280 with no ASr and it was easier to break it lose then the C36.
just kinda bummed that a AMG is so tame , it is fast . quick and comfortable but not to much fun with the auto and ASR
it driven now by my girlfrind to get to school and my weekend vacation cruiser
i havent taken out the fuses or even know if there is a fuse for the ASR , i bet if there is ABS and other things are on that fuse too
anyone know what makes the ASR work and why
what are you guys doing about this terrible buzzkill
thanks
i broke my c280 loose tonight all you need is the 4000 plus rmp to do it
with big grippy 8 inch wide tires in the rear
the traction control cant be that good can it.........
like if ur going round a long sweeper and give the steering wheel a quick opposite way flick then back it should sail out?
ive have done some insane slides in my car and thats with the open diff
heh iv done a few also!,alittle freaky tho,im no drifter and the benz sure is heavy when it starts to go lol....wouldnt mind killing the ASR and installing an LSD....Originally posted by c280nz

difference in weight between the C43 and C36 engine is only 200lbs lighter
its not traction control is Acceleration Slip Control
C43 3448 lbs
C36 3550 lbs
I put my car into 3 360's at 65 km/hour
Can't break my 99 loose for shit on dry pavement without ASR going apeshit, but my 95 w/o ASR would break loose if I looked at the gas pedal funny.

I guess some people are drivers and others are not... bouce it off the rev limiter in first you will smoke the tires
I live on a Greek Row with a very busy split 4 lane highway running by. Pulling out during the day usually requires a heavy foot. I'd say I break loose and whip the tail out at least twice a day. First gear from 3.5k to redline is pretty mean pulling out of there. I keep the shifter down in 2 to keep it in first longer. When I'm ready to shift I'll just give the shifter a quick slap forward to 3 then back down to 2 and it'll shift perfectly for that tricky situation.
'Tis the main reason my rear right tire is going ALOT faster than the rest.
'94 m104 with no ASR.
And on wet roads: no such thing as NOT breaking loose sideways. More or less have to let the wind push me or else I'm spinning out.
Edit: Don't they all already have a limited slip? I'm certain mine does.

no mercedes ever came with a limited slip other then the 4x4's
what kind of diff would I have if it did this? posi track? haah

Actually, quite a few MB's were available with LSD. If I am not mistaken, all the current 4-matics have LSD's. I think the CLK's have LSD's, too. I'm sure there are many more.Originally posted by Dr.Drew

I got banned from bnzsport for fighting the other arguement I can do a two wheel burn out, and that would lead me to belive i have a lsd but they swear on bnzsport that no mercedes other then 4x4 and maybe 4 matic have them
ive done quite a few 2 wheel burnouts in my time also, i just push the "esp off" button and power brake it, works everytime
i know you dont have to tell me i got vids lol
By the looks of things just a straight open diff? do u have any form of traction control?Originally posted by alphanumeric

although it is hard to tell when you do a skid in softish dirt
Well, the folks you were arguing with on bnzsport were wrong. I used to own a 74 280, and it had LSD.Originally posted by Dr.Drew

Here is a good example of another MB that had a LSD:

In Europe LSD is an option on AMG's.Regular MB's(non-AMG'S) over there I cannot tell you.
In the US the only MB presently made with an LSD is the AMG SL65!
If you want an LSD rear end for any other U.S. MB(AMG) car you will have to get a Quaiff diff.
