    Headlamp wash/wipe

If I'm going to have xenons, I will have to fit headlight wash/wipe.

I have spoken to several breakers and they all said they can't help me so it looks like I might have to get brand new items.

With help from the stealership parts guy I have got this list made up:

    202 869 00 21 : pump : £10.38
    123 997 36 81 : grommit : £0.18
    010 997 89 82 : hose : £1.01
    000 860 08 62 : check valve : £8.12
    202 820 37 42 : LHS motor : £135.51
    202 820 38 42 : RHS motor : £135.51
    202 820 05 45 : LHS blade : £7.83
    202 820 06 45 : RHS blade : £7.83
    202 820 11 44 : LHS arm : £23.64
    202 820 12 44 : RHS arm : £23.64
    140 824 03 49 : LHS wiper cap : £2.65
    140 824 04 49 : RHS wiper cap : £2.65
    000 824 21 15 : wiper pin : £0.58 (need 2)
    202 540 67 33 : cable harness : £55.59

The total for these items is £415.70, which including VAT is £488.45 ($784.42 USD). That's NOT cheap!

I asked which parts were needed to add headlamp wash to w210 pre-facelift models (same parts for all w210 and w208):

    210 860 21 60 : reservoir : £6.55
    210 869 03 21 : pump : £34.24
    170 869 00 94 : hose : £2.43
    000 869 16 22 : connector/distributor : £2.61
    210 860 05 47 : LHS nozzles : £35.46
    210 860 06 47 : RHS nozzles : £35.46
    210 820 22 10 : switch : £12.07
    210 540 76 35 : harness : £20

This only comes to £148.82, £174.86 including VAT, in USD that's $280.77. Almost cheap in comparison!

Does anyone think that it's possible to fit the w210 headlight wash units to the under-headlight strip on the w202? Is there a big enough gap there (the units are not as big as the end pieces) ? How about if they were fitted to the bumper? They're so much cheaper and have less parts (less complicated) and no wiper blades are needed etc, plus wipers are old-school now and all new MB and new other brands have wash but no wipe.

I still don't see how they work, does the water pressure push the washers out then or what?

Any clever ideas? I think they'd be great on a w202

But then you wouldn't be able to centrally-park your headlight wipers.

If you *do* centrally park them they block all the light like the dirt would, making them totally pointless!

When I bought new blades, I got new wiper pins too in the pack. That saves you £1.16

I am sure the new washer only design works well (must be fairly high pressure), but from a operational point of view, the wipers on mine really clean the lens of the headlamp. You can see the arc, where around the edge is dirty just like on your windscreen.
Part of me doubts how the washer on it's own could do as good as job.

w202 headlights are shoebox shape so they can have wipers, the peanut/seperate headlight styles of modern cars make wipers impossible. Besides which the headlight wash on the w210/w208 is simply amazing!

Why didn't you get a quote of the OEM MB aftermarket add-the-wipers-to-your-headlights kit with partnumber A 202 820 00 40...to be found under chapter 99 drawing 675 of the euro EPC? Do those UK partdudes even know what they sell?
There are still some parts you need besides this set, but it will get you pretty far.

The W210 headlight washers won't fit (no way!) and the price they quoted you is wrong...so wrong...incomplete?

    greetingz,

No. They don't! A shame the parts guy, who sells parts all day cannot be an expert in his field. Pride should be taken in their extensive knowledge, but I have never witnessed it.

Shude - you can either take advise from the mod god, or do the totally foolish thing and take this as a challenge!

I ran the part# Steve provided on DC Online price check and came up with:

    LU WISCHER
    EUR 269.44

Add the ridicolous profit UK-dealers (if they are anything like the Norwegian ones, and I think they are) charge and you're still far from 785 €/$ !!

The kit is £220.93 before VAT. That's CHEAP!

The stealership guy said he didn't expect there to be a kit for headlight wash/wipe in that section
