Running on Vegetable Oil - SVO or WVO. Anyone doing it?

Here in the UK you can legally use 2,500 litres p.a. of veggie oil in your car without paying tax or duty on it. Diesel is GBP£1.40 per litre here which converts to roughly USD$8 per U.S. gallon!

I've just bought a very nice 1998 C250 Diesel Turbo with a 605.960 DOHC muti valve intercooled turbo. It appears this car is the absolutely perfect vehicle to run on veggie oil with indirect injection & a Bosch pump.

Is anyone on here already running their car on vegetable oil?

It pains me to say the us never got any diesel w202's here. I have to keep a 1980 240d for my diesel/geek cred

Really, no US diesels at all? I didn't know that.

This car is a revelation. It has better acceleration than my 190E 2.6 & only 17 hp less than a US spec 190E 2.3-16 Cosworth & it has 207 torques to pull it along.

I agree. I LOVE a good Mb diesel, and obviously love a good w202. Its seriously super lame that alot of diesels don't make it here. Even jeep, a very very purely American brand sells a monster 3 liter turbo diesel Cherokee in Europe that is, in many ways, even better than the v8 hemi model. But they claim diesels don't sell well in the states. Bullshit. They know we will buy whatever they make, and they don't want their huge gasoline market to be cannibalized by more diesels on the market. And don't get me started on the hybrid or electric nonsense.

In summary, I'm extremely jealous of your c250d!
