Do pre-updated trunks open by itself?

Just wondering. I remember going to the OC meet and everyone's trunk would open by itself. Everyone had an updated model tho, while mine is a '97. Is mine messed up or do pre-updates just don't that? I know we dont have the smartkeys but would it be able to do that from the trunk release button on the inside?

Heres a vid. from you tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHAJytIy-oA

You can open the trunk. Just press the single button you have twice (Not very fast, not so slow), and the trunk will open.

I Kind Of Have The Same Problem But Mine Is A Little Different. My Trunk Will "pop" But Will Not Open On Its Own Because The Springs Somehow Came Off. Would Someone Mind Taking A Pick Of The Trunk Springs Behind The Carpet So I Can See How To Put Mine Back On.

Tried it, didnt work. So I'm just gonna assume that pre-updates dont have this neat feature

hvmercy, sorry for asking so many times. But does your trunk swing open on its own like the one in the video? Mine can pop, but it doesnt swing open on its own.

your rear spoiler is holding your trunk down. its too heavy for the trunk springs to support.

94-95 must be open with the key
96-00 have a release button in the center console and/or the key

90% of the time, they swing open.
It all depends on how you are parked.
