    Test Fitted the Brabus Bumper

So I tried on the Brabus bumper today, just to see how it fits. I am still waiting until after my bags to paint it, but I was just getting excited to see it on the car. It needs minor modification to the sides (they curve in), but other than that, it's awesome. Keep in mind, I didn't fully tighten it, I just wanted an idea of how it would look. Two quick questions, comments:

    1. Should I paint it two tone like the car, or just the single color (I plan on painting the chrome strips the color of the moldings)?

    2. I want to keep my thermostat, can I buy a driver side tow hook cover with a piece to hold the thermo like on my updated bumper (I am not sure how it works on preupdate cars). Thanks!

    3. I will be getting Hella 450 series fogs...would these look awkward with my crystal headlights?

    THANKS AGAIN JASON!

thanks man...IDK...I think that very flat bottom look should flow to the sides as well, too bad I missed my chance a month ago getting c36 sides...but hell I will be broke for the next six months, so that would be a future project

hey brandon, if you're planning on painting the door trim, want to trade me for my sanded white ones since the color won't matter? i'm almost considering keeping my car 2-tone, and painting the bottoms of the doors and going the 2-tone smoke silver since i've got ray's (VIP_MBZ) old body kit.

It looks hilariously great on my white C230K. My neighbor across the street has an eddie bauer explorer that is white with the gold 2-tone front/rear bumpers and side running boards. He was laughing his ass off when he seen me and Ray switching our kits in the driveway, suggesting I was "gripping up his style"

edit: oh yeah, forgot to add my input. the fitment does look great, and the sides near the guard can be adjusted by loosening up the 2 bolts on the bracket that pushes up against the stock bumpers. it slides in/out to adjust fitment; so that should clean right up. I honestly think it would look better if you kept the chrome trim on the top of the front and rear bumpers instead of painting them (even though it appears the ebay pre-update bumper skeleton has the trim molded onto the bumper itself). Is there any way around it? or would you basically have to sand off the molded trim, and install the metal pre-update pieces you have now?

I was originally planning on just painting the chrome strips....but I will definitely let you know if I decide to paint the entire side moldings

damn you americans! I want the handles with chrome strip and all the chrome mouldings from the sides and front/back to go on my car, cos i have the all black handles and all 1 tone side strips with no chrome!!

If only they were easily removable and postable!

ohhh man, chrome gets you home! lol

I thought you were going to paint the trim pieces to match the rest of the body color and tape off the chrome pieces. mine were already sanded down and prepped for paint since I was going to paint mine to flow better with the WALD kit, but my intentions were to keep the chrome

it's REALLY easy to swap out the door moldings. The pre-update chrome is removeable, but the update bumpers have them much more molded into the bumper and they're plastic. (they would break if you attempted to remove them)

I am in a conundrum on what to do actually...but I am thinking of just getting rid of all the chrome on the car (as well as getting sport all-black handles like the C43s have)

i like the chrome topped handles, but sanded black matte finish and painted body color; it just looks so clean and understated. it's not obnoxious in your face chrome on our cars like a harley, or "bro" truck etc.

Haha, get everything ready, and spray it all at once. Painting piece by piece is going to cost you 10 fold

I might be picking up a '94 C280 imperial red with shot interior and needing some TLC for DIIIIIRT CHEAP!

I'm interested in your stock body kit when you're ready to swap out the C36 sides and whatever your plan may be for the rear bumper if you decide to change that as well.

    Nice bumper...

Everything about that car flows... (Not a fan of those rims, but they work rather well on your car)
