Smile Painting the door handles - Need Info

Need some advice. If i want to paint the door handles, do i just take it to a shop and paint over the rubber material that comes stock or do i need to buy for example chrome covers and paint over those and place it on the handles??? Please advise, preferably by someone that has their handles painted already.

You can buy the painted door handles from the Dealership. Probably cost less than painting the handles b/c alot of work is needed to be sure the handles are prepped properly.

    Let me find a link.

edit: Click and scroll to find part number

The last 3 digits of the door handle should be the paint code of your car. So if you had a black car, the last digits are 040.

Hows the quality? I've always been concerned about that as the door handles are a funky composite.

It would be worth it if the paint didnt stay on properly on the "rubber" handles.

door handles getting old - what to do?

My black door handles are getting old and fading lighter. is there anything i can use to refresh it? i've been suggested to replace the door handles for black ones you can buy at the dealer but that will cost over $200 plus i have to install it. Another suggestion was to paint my original ones at the shop... and suggestions?

    Hi Kappa-

Please do not start multiple Threads of the same topic. I merged your Threads together so that they are all in opne place.

As for your questions, honestly I'd say shell out the money and buy the painted handles. You could probably find a local Club202 Member to help you with install. If not, you could always buy a how-to CD or manual. From what I have heard, it is not that hard.

If money is tight, I'd suggest spraying some Armor All on a rag and going over your door handles. I do this every few months, and the handles look like new.

There is also a product (I cannot remember who) which sells a bumper trim "freshener" Its for old faded plastic parts. I think its Meguire's.

Id avoid painting them at all costs, they will scratch, chip and after a few months make your car look nasty.

OEM W210 all the way! Heres a picture of mine:

Im sorry, its not going to happen, if you dont like them then this forum will have to lose out when you delete them!

The pictures are used on around 4-5 forums and this is the only forum that requires them to be re-sized.

Its not 2002, these are the days of web 2.0!

Trust me, we are not missing anything.

Well maybe the C43 bumper matched with regular sideskirts.

The Board has set rules for its reasons. Mainly people cannot follow direction, not my fault people cannot read. So we all suffer.

Secondly, I was poking fun. IF I wanted to be "Big Man with a comeback" I would have exercised account options.

Lastly, I asked nicely for you to comply. For which you said: "Thats not going to happen." Way to lead like a Senior Member.

edit: OT, I truly believe that it is worth the time and money to go OEM painted door handles, unless you like the old regular ones.

I got mine painted and they look perfect, no chipping, no bubbling, get a good shop to do it. Cost me about US$170 to get it done.

fitting them is easy, I did mine myself, took about 2 hours to work out the first one, and ten minutes per door after that.

    get stuck into it!
