M111 work... in a r170 chassis

I have lurked this forum until it was locked out from guests.. Lots of info here, especially with my engine.. the M111.

I have a 2000 SLK230k, 1998-00 model engine. Stock with the M62 kompressor

I'm not sure if you read on 190rev.net at all but a man on there managed some impressive numbers with the M111 on stock internals. 350hp and 525nm (385tq) at the wheels.

I plan on swapping to a turbo using a Greddy e-manage Ultimate piggy-back system. I hope to remove the turbo, move the alternator back, and actuallly use the stock crank pulley to keep it in balance.

I have some questions and hope you may help! Is there any engine wiring diagrams floating around? Does the slk230k use the same ecu as the 202 chassis 230k? Is there ANYWHERE that I can get a m111 turbo exhaust manifold (or do i need to have a shop do it)?

Also, I am a well known member on Benzworld, I have a set of pretty rare M111 camshafts designed by Schrick for brabus that I may be installing, as well as a SuperSprint exhaust header to base the exhaust manifold off of.

Hi Cory,
Hows your exhaust gas recircluated?...if its internal you might want to check the cam timing and decide if you should make changes early on.
You can shift the alternator back with the n/a alternator pully,bracket and belt should work fine with your stock SC pully...not sure if theres any benefit in retaining the SC crank pully over the n/a models as you change the charactersistics by removing the SC belt system anyway?!
I would imagine it uses the same ecu!,wiring will be very simlar to the 202. i have the 202 wiring diagrams(on paper) but it would pay for you to get proper slk ones!.
Yep the stock internals on the M111 seem to hold fine,its the fueling that will kill it.

Yea, fueling will work out... I have to re-read some threads but if I recall off the top of my head properly the R170 used the same fuel pump in the 230k as the 32k. I'll have to re-read it of course.

Do you know where I could get wiring diagrams?

Also, the main reason I'm keeping the pulley is for balancing/weight purposes, unless Anton from 190rev advises otherwise. It appeared as though he used the stock pulley just no belt for s/c (removed s/c stuff too).

When you say check the timing and see about changes early on.. what is the purpose for this?

Stock pump should hold at least 340hp@wheels,we had no drop in pressure at that output.

Regardless of whats on the crank its a larger 4 cylinder without balance shafts...you will experience some 2nd order harmonics,make sure you build a heavy duty header,dont piss round with stainless.

If the engine uses internal re-circulation - ie alot of overlap that spits exhaust up the intake,you will have trouble when it comes to getting alot more fuel and air in the chamber,remember this engine is set up for SC with relatively low back pressure,once you increase backpressure,intake pressure and fuel it tends to exaggerate the problem. You might want to degree the engine and speak to some cam builders about the project,it might save you some tuning problems in the future.
Not only does the overlap cause fuel problems,but with added backpressure/intake pressure i believe also causes uneven combustion pressures because of differences in exhaust and intake runner restriction.
These are some of the problems i had with mine...partially due to the exhaust/intake manifolds...but more so due to the stock cam setup.

Pagz I read through all of your threads about the vibration problem, Anton (190rev) made his header and downpipe both from stainless. He's been running the setup a while and has had no issues with vibration (he also has the stock s/c pulley on).


The cams I may not install in this ride. They may get installed on a 202 if i can find one for sale with a m111.973 engine

No problem. If there's something specific, I can send you a sample of what's on there. But for the money, it's a cd worth getting in my opinion.

P.S. - for Pagz, i'll end up doin those parts all stainless and i will have a buddy of mine be custom fabbing the exhaust with a good flexpipe. i do greatly appreciate a lot of the research and time you and several other members on this site and peachparts have done. You really have no idea how much i appreciate it. My goal with this is to develop a "kit" so to say, that will allow all the M111 cars to finally have the proper power and recognition they deserve.
