hi , my car currently has 145k miles, since i work for auto nation , i am plannin to get a employ discount and goin to HOUSE OF IMPORTS MERCEDES to do my major service, i bought my car used so i dont know whether the guy before had done any servicing, i have just been doing oil changes, this time at 150k miles i want to change everythin possible that is needed and will save me money. please help. what is included in this package? and how much does it ussually run

Hmmm well most companies have a list of things that they will do for each service! Go to the Stealership and ask them what they would do for a 150k mile tune up!

Like at a honda dealership for one of our cars that we own. they have a BIG list of each mile marker check up. like 25k , 50k, 80k you know. And for each one they tell you what they do. ITs not that hard to figure out!

Oaky, well, lets put this way... You can't trust all car shops. Only some of teh shops have teh complete list of what the car needs to be done at the certain miles. most of teh cars are about the same. but yet some asshole shops will over charge u money and didn't even services the thing thats needs.

Do some those works urself if you can, cuz why pay $500 for a jobs that parts are only $less tehn $100? or a $1400 service when teh parts are $400? roll up ur sleeves and do it ur self, or do liek i do sometime, GET UR FRIENDS SLEEVES UP AND GET THEIR HAND DIRTY!!!!! (make sure u pay them)

thanks, my 202 already has like wierd transmission probs i think like , only when the car isnt warm up the gear doesnt shift well.. it lags but i think thats like that wiht alot of 202 correcT? will trans fluid help that? should i go to pepboys and buy the heal transmission fluid after i do my fluid change?

Lots of w202s will kick and shift hard when teh engine is getting warm up, and the lag will still be there since its adefult setting from teh factory as an so called" saftey" . But change teh fluid will for sure extend the life of ur tranny. do it soon don't waite till its too late.

The 722.4 transmission in your W202 is actually designed to hold on to the lower gears on purpose when it is cold. By running at the higher rpms in a lower gear, the catalytic converter reaches it's operating temperature faster, which allows the car to claim a better MPG rating. While I'm not sure that running a cold engine at the higher loads generated by holding a lower gear is a good idea for the motor, that is what MB intended it to do. There is nothing wrong with your transmission.

As for the 150K mile service, according to the MB maintenance book for my 94 C280, the following is due (and it is a *long* list):

(every 7500 miles)
-oil and filter change

(every 15,000 miles)
-check and correct all fluid levels, including rear axle and a/c refrigerant level
-inspect spark plugs (and replace if necessary)
-check condition of accessory drive belt, replace if necessary
-rotate tires and adjust pressure, inspecting tread depth and wear pattern (include inspection of spare tire)
-check brake pad and rotor thickness, and road test brake performance. adjust parking brake
-check condition of steering linkage for free play
-replace windshield wiper insert
-replace climate control system dust filter
-lubricate hood hinges
-inspect seat belts
-clean tape head in sound system
-check function of horn, all lights, windshield wiper and washer system
-check engine timing

(every 30,000 miles)
-replace automatic transmission oil and filter
-replace air filter
-replace fuel filter
-replace spark plugs (if not done at the last 15,000 mile interval)

Additionally, your brake fluid needs to be replaced at two year intervals, regardless of mileage. Your engine coolant needs to be replaced at 3 year intervals, regardless of mileage (and ensure that the MB coolant is used).

These are not my particular endorsements for service intervals. I'm quoting right out of the MB book. Personally, I'd never let my car go over 3000 miles before changing the oil, but that's just me.
Your 150,000 mile service seems to call for all of the above to be done. However, if you have done any of these services recently, you should inform the mechanic to not perform them. Why pay $150 for a transmission oil/filter change if it was just done a year ago? The MB book does not mention a service interval for the real axle fluid, but as a matter of course I replace it every 30,000 miles, along with the transmission fluid. Its cheaper than a new rear axle.

thanks alot , do you have any idea how much it cost? because my supervisor had just recieved the word from house of imports mercedes sayin taht normal price is 429 but my autonation employ price is 389, for the 150k mile service he didnt give me a list of what would be changed

I'm impressed! Lots of folks talk like they maintain their car but it looks like you actually do. I'd toss in clean MAF, replace O2, replace fuel filter, inspect drive line rubber isolators (rubber doughnuts), 4 way alingment, front wheel bearing repack, and quite a few other things that most folks think that I am crazy for doing. But it's a Benz and I spent big Bucks and I want it to last.

OH ok, so look like u r doing the A&B Flexible services. Which the only thing they will do is
Oil change

Air Filter change

and few otehr stuffs and "Inspect" teh car

which teh parts will come out about $100 and with rest of labors. Do it ur self is much cheaper man.

I can probbly give u what they do for A& B services and u will save a lot!

If I remember correctly (and this is going back 3 years to when I did the 60,000 mile service) I paid about $800 Cdn for this service, which included the coolant flush/fill ($70) and the brake fluid replacement ($60). So without those extras, it was $670 Cdn, or about $500 US. Providing the dealer you are going to performs all of the services required, including the replacement of all filters, the spark plugs, the transmission service, etc, then I think you are getting a pretty good price.

I haven't been back to the dealer in a good year now. I have been fortunate enough to find a local Mercedes specialist who does fantastic work, is honest, and is reasonably priced. There is a forum on the mercedesshop.com website that allows people to exchange recommendations on local service technicians, and they were dead on the money for this guy. In Toronto, the only guy you should be seeing is Charlie McNally.

The MB book I am talking about is the set of books that came with the car from the dealer. Including the owners manual, service guide and warranty information. There is a booklet that has the space for all the stamps and mileage/service intervals. That booklet outlines what service is required at which time/mileage.

15,000 miles intervals:
- All services included in Lubrication Service, plus:
- Inspect for leaks and assess the condition of all components, lines and hoses on the engine, transmission, axles, level control, and steering, fuel and brake systems
- Replace spark plugs (if necessary)
- Inspect and adjust drive belts
- Inspect air filter elements
- Remove wheels and rotate tires as necessary
- Inspect brake system and adjust parking brake
- Check all exterior and interior lamps and windshield washer systems
- Lubricate throttle shafts, door hinges and locks
- Replace windshield wiper insert(s)
- Clean cassette deck head
- Perform a road test

30,000 miles intervals:
- All services included in the 15,000-Mile Maintenance Service, plus:
- Change automatic transmission fluid and filter
- Replace air filter
- Replace spark plugs
- Inspect propeller shaft flex coupling
- Inspect parking brake for free play
- Replace diesel pre and main fuel filters*
- Perform a road test
*Fuel filter replacement for gasoline engines is recommended at 60,000-mile intervals.

For 1998 and newer, Mercedes recommends 2 types of services, type A(minor) and type B(major). The information is in your booklet manual.

In general:

A-Service:
- Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models
- Ensure the warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp
wiper and washer systems, and seat belts are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter

B-Service:
- Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models,
and in S-Class and SL-Class models without the active charcoal filter
- Replace windshield wiper inserts
- Inspect and rotate tires
- Lubricate and inspect throttle linkage
- Ensure the parking brake, steering play, headlamps and exterior lamps,
warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp wiper and washer
systems, seat belts, and backrest lock (S-Class only) are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Inspect front axle ball joints and Poly-V-belt
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter
