hey, if it's alot of hop, it's most likely the shock. is this while going on flat pavement too or just over bumps and stuff?
I've been meaning to ask this for a long long time but kept forgetting to ask...
I have a C43 w/stock suspension. Currently upsized one to 18" wheels.
Having serious problems getting traction lately. Worse yet, right-rear wheel spin is associated with violent wheel hop.
Does this mean my shocks are shot? Or does it point to other issues? Perhaps shock bushings at the shock tower?
thanx all.

how many miles?
have the shocks been replaced?
how is the car driven?
could be bad wheel?
bad tire?
check all of these factors.
does it happen all the time or only with wheel spin?
last week one of my customers had the same problem, but it was on the left side.turned out his trailing arm snapped. so have that checked out, but also check the shock, sway bar endlink, and maybe the spring(but the bad spring should not have those symptoms)

also check the cv joint there. it could be out of balance or bent. my vw beetle had this problem with vibration. that had cv's on the front, we have them on the back

sounds like you're having a problem keeping the right down. i would replace shocks first.Originally posted by 98c43amg

thanx everyone for your thoughts.
I was planning on [finally] changing the shocks [has 65K miles on the car now] along with [finally] doing a drop. But it seems like a more detailed inspection of the rear suspension would be a good bet too. Thanx for pointing me in the right direction.

Do you have a spare tire in the trunk?
Yep, I do.Originally posted by Denlasoul
Do you have a spare tire in the trunk?:suprise: Interesting question. Recommended that I do or I don't?
Well, having the extra weight in the rear helps keep it down to the street better. I remembered when I was on my spare that my rear wheels would break loose more often than usual.
Just a possibility.
