My stereo system, Lots of pictures and a write-up to go with it.

I don't want to post all the pictures here for the sake of bogging down the thread, but here are the links!

Very clean and sharp. Dont you love the feeling of doing your own work, hehe. Is the alram a rsx 3.5? Did you install it? Also, have you every heard the w202 with tweets in the doors A pillar? The position seems to be much better than the stock location but making the car looks stock and clean is a plus too. Good job.

It's a little different. See link below:

Yeah, doing it myself is something I have always done. Why pay someone else to do it, if I can do it myself for free?! heh
The alarm is the RSX 3.5, and I put it in. It was a pain in the ass but it works great. I set up the remote start, and I also can raise and lower the windows with the remote.

I considered putting them in the A-pillar because that's where I had them on my previous car and it sounded really nice, but I jst wanted to utilize the factory locations. The sound output is still pretty good.

Thanks. Yeah, the spare tire and battery are still completely accessible. That was one of the key features that I wanted when designing it. The Type R 12s are pretty nice. They have a pretty good mix of SPL to sound quality.

wow man that is a really good job!! I love the DIY work.. keeps it real.

I wanted to install my amp like that.. (alpine 5ch v12 amp) but I had no idea how I could do it myself. now if I ever want to I know how thanks to you.

BUT I dont think I will anymore. I made the dumb mistake of buying a 5ch amp and not 2 seperate amps.. becuzz now when I add something more then my 10inch bazooka to my 5ch amp.. it shuts itself down when as soon as I bring the volume up.

Nice job, you must have some alarm install experience to put one in a benz. You needed a bypass to get the windows to roll down right? Where did you get that. Also, you cant get the trunk pop, hu? Thanks

I know nothing about car stereo, but I loved your article and learned quite a bit. Looks great!!

I like it, clean and simple. Im doing the same in my W210 but instead of ugly carpet (albeit useful as it is tough to wistand most use), I will go with suede or maybe old school vinyl. Daddy likes!

Thanks.. I have installed a couple alarms before.. nothing professional or anything, just for friend's and what not. The Benz wasn't really any different than any other car. To roll the windows down, I just put an auxiliary on the lock trigger wire, and another auxiliary on the unlock trigger wire. Since the window down/up is already built into the car, it works the same way. For as long as I hold the button to open/close the windows,, they will do the same. I didn't really care to have the trunk pop. I could put a solenoid in if if I wanted to, but rarely do I put anything in the trunk anyway. I have a third auxiliary that I still want to do something with.. Not sure what though.

a really nice feature would be if you connected the 3rd aux. to the radio, so you hit the button and boom the radio turns on.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking about doing.. It was either that, or turning on my Whelen 90 watt police strobes. hehe

I love how they sound. Even mounted in stock locations, it sounds very natural and crisp. It's always good to power them with an external amplifier!

    Hi Boomi:

Thanks for the info. I order the set yesterday from tweeters.com I got them fro 189.00 I guess that was the cheapest I could find. Also you say the same size will fit the rear door? if that is correct I will order another set. On the rear doors. Did you use the tweeter or you just didn't bother? Please let me know.

    thanks

I just used a standard 5.25" MB Quart speaker. Not a component set.

    Hi Boomin:

Could you tell me wich one you use. As you can see I am not too good at this. But I want it to sound good. I already have the subs. I need to set up the speakers. Must likely I will use your pictures to do the same set up as you.

    Thank you
    Zeke

    Very nice setup and instructions.

I like the carpet look as it matches the trunk.

Do you have any grills in place to protect the subs when you place things in the trunk?
