Since I know many are you guys are blessed to have a garage to work in (not bitter about moving to a condo... ). How bad is it to change the infamous Orings that cause the oil leak by the filter? It is in a shop right now and I want to see if they are trying to rip me off.

Are you talking about the 0-ring that goes with the oil
filter? Or do you mean oil seal/head gasket? Would help if you told us model/year.

Oops thought I did include that. Its a 98 C43. And the Oring to the head.

Are they changing your valve cover gasket, head gasket and your oring?

just the orings since they are leaking and it has gotten worse this past week.

its very easy, you dont even need a new o ring but thats up to you. I just use some gasket sealer.

IIRC, replacing that o-ring and the two gaskets is about a 3hr job.

so far so good. I made the repair last summer in mid july and it has not leaked yet.
