subj,
Planning to overhaul my front end, looking for a Mercedes coil spring compressor, I got a set from Princess auto that goes on the outside for now, but I'd prefer to have a safer tool. There are some on eBay for ~100 US, but I hope I'll need it only once so no point spending the money. Hope to find one in Vancouver Area, Canada

dont need it, get some oversized zip ties, tie about 2 or 3 around the coil, lift lower control arm with jack, remove lower control arm from one end ( inner..towars the middle of the car is easier) and stand clear, especially your face, and lower the jack and boom, easy as pie, and i did this plenty of times, people make it seem way more dangerous then what it is, in my opinion.

Well, i ended up buying the right spring compressor and I'm glad I did, made the job very easy and felt safe. Thanks for the advice. You are right, people make it seem more dangerous then what it is, in my early day took apart my first car's suspension without knowing that such a tool exists. And managed to put it back together.
These days i find right tool makes life much easier.

Now you can rent it out or charge people with MB's that want to change their springs. ;)
