Well all of the replicas that i've bought or seen are a mold of the entire bumper, and it would either require alot of cutting and fixing to fit it right or you'd have to put on the mounting brakets from your OE bumper on to the replica. If i replicate my Brabus, you'll only have to remove the factory bumper cover and put on the fake Brabus cover and you'll be done, just how it should be.

I just finished working on my cosuin replica AMG and i had alot of cutting and fitting to get it right since it was a mold of the entire bumper. I am sure others on the board that have bought the Replica AMG kit know what i am talking about.

I've seen the work that my friend's place does and it's flawless. If i get enough interest, i'd first have to sand and block my Brabus bumper and seal it with primer so that it will be perfect. Then i get a mold made of the bumper which is a pretty penny. After the mold is done, i'll start pumping out copies of the front end. Then all you'd need to do is prime and paint. I will make sure they all fit before sending them out.

It will be fiberglass and the same thickness of the Brabus, and it will be gelcoated. The only downfall it might crack you get into a fender bender. My friend ensured me that it will be an EXACT copy of the Original one. I haven't made them yet and wont until i get enough people who are confirmed b/c the mold is so much money.

a fender bender is a small accident when you either run into someone from the back or someone runs into you in the back.....i've had a couple fender benders on the freeway, but my bumper only has small scratches.....i think with fiber glass, the kit will just break and will have to be repaired since the fiber glass will be showing...

The Brabus Front wasn't made to fit on the Updated Body style, so you'd have to un upgrade and get an older bumper.

Nope. none of the W202 body kits are full bumpers, unless you get the replicas like i did. You have to remove the bumper cover and replace it with the Brabus one and since the updated bodystyle bumpers are different they wont fit. Hence the UN updating the bumpers.

When i get 10 confirmed buyer that deposit $100, i will start on it. The reason i am requiring a deposit, the Mold is really expensize and i dont want confirmed buyers to back out and get stuck with the bill. So Hopefully there is enough SERIOUS buyers before i install it on my car, and the idea will be scraped.

What's the cost?

Unfortunately, i only have the BRABUS front, I dont know if you've seen the rest of the kit, it Looks like stock. The only other thing that I would recommend is the C36 amg sides, and rear. Thats what I am goin to do. I can get you the Fogs, they are $60. The bumper is $250.

But there seems to be a problem, if you have the V6 C280, then that would be the updated model, in which the Brabus front wont fit unless you get an older bumper (<97') and put it on. The only kit that will fit the updated model is the C43 and the lorinser.

I'd be down, but my concern again is fitment. Since I have a 99, I would need to get an older bumper? Can you explain more about this? Also, if you posted pictures of the bumper and where it would attach, and also what piece would have to be changed to fit a 99 I think it would help move some people along.

I am not too sure of how to install the older Style bumper on to the Model updated body. I just know that they are different and it will need to be addressed. I've explained it to the MAX, I suggest going out and looking at your bumper, as i think i did a pretty good job explaining it. I would post up pictures but i dont have my server anymore.

heres what i mean by bumper cover( pic from some post on here)

Ima post my bumper for 714guys cuz he is nice enough to try to help ppl out.

http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album20/MVC_451F.sized.jpg

This is the brabus bumper. Now look at your bumper (i wont address sport bumpers here. we're talking elegance) Notice that most of your bumper is body colour and the top portion is gray (or some other colour and it has chrom trim on it as well. Well that different colour and chrome trim comes off. And you put this part along with the assorted bumper guides onto the brabus bumper and there ya have it.

Now for the model updated ppl.

Your bumpers are ugly (yes they are get over it) and they are also bigger. The brabus bumper was designed for the cooler and tighter fitting pre updated bumper. You can fit your top portion to the brabus bumper but be forewarned... it will stick out more and have some overhangs on some parts simply because the model updated bumper is bigger.

Here is a model updated 202 with brabus bumper.

https://ssl.kundenserver.de/s73919382.einsundeinsshop.de/sess/utn153e2581bba4521/bs_shopdata/img/W202.jpg

Now here is my pre updated car with preupdated top portion with brabus bumper.

http://www.club202.com/nokia8860/fisheye.jpg

Tighter to the body and better looking.

So it will work regardless of what bumper you have. If you bring it to a body shop they can figure out how to mount it. If you do it yourself it would help that you have a better than surface understanding of bodywork to help you put it on your car.

Either way we should give props to 714 for doing this now its up to you guys to put your money where your interconnection meets the road.

Now 714 I better get a free copy :p

I think BRABUS bumper looks nicer on pre 98 models...but at the

same time....it doesn't look that bad on updated models.....

Thanks Nokia for the Explaination, works so much better with pictures.

2 down and 8 to go. This weekend i will tinker with the bumper an fit it on my preupdated bumper. I'll take pictures and post it up to clear things up, and how they fit.

Also if anybody in the Socal Area with an Updated w202 that will let me fit the BRABUS bumper on to there car, so i can see how it will fit. Email me 714guy@sbcglobal.net. I will take pictures and let everybody else see how it works.

Regarding the Foglights, before i actually do the Mold, I will make sure these Hella fog lights i have fit perfectly, they fit right now but i have to do a little trimming so that it fits perfectly. the foglights i got at pepboys, they were $60, instead of the Hella ones that Brabus sales for $190. They look identical, just the mounting is different.

So hopefully you guys can help me start the ball rolling so i can start.

714guy
10-11-2004, 09:23 PM
http://www.joeyandmona.com/albums/album20/MVC_451F.sized.jpg

NOTE: there should be grill that goes in that big gap between the Foglights, but seems as they are always lost or impossible to get. So what would suggest doing is putting mesh right there. I could find some cool mesh for you guys an pre make them, if ya want but we'll discuss details of that later.

Its looks to me that the White car doesn't have the niche for the EURO plate. If that's right, ya dont have to worry mine does and looks identical to Nokia's but painted Blue right now.

So for those of you who wanted to the EURO bumper swap like i have. hahaha!! You can kill two birds with one stone.

I may want to get in on this buy also. (Not sure yet.)

Alrighty i just put on the BRABUS bumper and it looks fantastic, i'll get pictures up when i find my camera. I thought you didn't have to cut the bumper but you do. So I won't be able to test fit it one an Updated model without some cutting. If you have the older style bumper then it looks DOPE.

He spoke with brabus and told me that, brabus would be willing to reproduce the kits for the w202 but only if there are a minimum of 10 guaranteed buyers...

just wanted to let you guys know -> another chance to purchase the real deal.

He's calculating the prices right now. Once I get the pricing i'll let you guys know if you guys are interested.

I'll have some free time soon so i will be able to work on this project.

I know you mentioned there is cutting involved, but can you tell me what type of cutting?

Based on your opinon (since you have the original) How much work do you think will be needed to get it to fit a 99 bumper.

I just need to know the amount of work its gonna take to get the replica to fit on a updated bumper. Once i get an answer on that i can either commit or not.

Thanx

if you want to donate an updated bumper to me then i can tell how much work it will need to fit, otherwise i am not goin to a buy one just to fit for you. If you read what Nokia said, the only difference would be the amount the bumper sticks out, the fit should be about the same.

where do you guys plan to get them painted/ installed? what about the lower mesh/ fogs?

any idea of what the total cost would be? (ship, paint, install, etc.)i think that this would help people to understand what there overall investment is going to be. maybe this will help to get potential buyers

all good questions and should be addressed.

Shipping: will be around 80 - 100, i am guessing b/c thats what i paid for it to be shiped from Virgina to Cali. However i would prefer pick up if possible, especially if you are in Socal or even Norcal.

Install: FREE if you're able to do it. I promise i will have my tutorial up soon on how i installed it on my pre-updated bumper. And for up Updated Cars, I will have a tutorial up too once the bumpers are made and i install it on an Updated bumper.

Paint: This will vary on what shop you take it too. A rough estimate would be around 250 - 300.

yeah it gets expensive, but i was able to do it while working and going to college full time. Its all about small steps and saving. I remember when i first got my replica Brabus, i bought it and let it sit for about 2 months before i saved up enough for install and paint.

i don't mind being the guinea pig -- but i would like to at least get some what of an estimate for the difficulty involved in installing. Well, how bout that - once you have at least one replica made, i can drop by, since I live in OC, Ca. and we can try to eye ball to see what it would look like?

cool?

o btw -- just to vent - I HATE EVO SPORT AND WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM! THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD A CARLSSON REAR LIP FOR MY CAR AND OFFERED TO SELL IT AT 100 BUCKS. SO I DRIVE DOWN THERE FOR AN HR IN TRAFFIC AND ITS NOT EVEN CARLSSON!! BUNCH JACKA**ES.

any ways. tell me what you think 714guys. But i'd like to get something rolling quick here - i'm getting pretty antsy just waiting.

c_lee what lip did they have then?

c_lee
11-20-2004, 08:00 AM
it wasn't a lip! it was a full rear bumper cover. The bumper cover looked identical to that of a post updated rear bumper cover without the flare on the bottom. It had no exhuast opening. it was just a flat rear bumper cover.

http://www.carlsson.de/en/tuning/c-klasse/ws202/aero/02.html

if you look at the link above, notice how their is a rear lip on the back, with the exhast openeing. well, that's what i was expecting to buy and that what the sales guy said it was. Well, my fault, I should have asked for pics before going down there, because that isn't what they had. It also had 2 small cracks on either end of the bumper at the edges.

o well -- back to the drawing board

i won't be making any replicas untill i get a fo sho number of buyers. I do have the real one that we can eyeball on your car. I am thinking the install should be similar to the preupdated bumpers, b/c all you really have to cut is the lower center section of the bumper where the grills and vents are. This is so there is room for the fog lights and vents of the brabus bumper.

About the Carlsson bumpers for our 202, its just like brabus, you won't be able to find it new or used unless your lucky.

714 Guy,

How about this? Would you mind if I came by or we met and kinda eyeballed your real brabus against my stock 99 bumper? Don't worry i'm not some psycho!

If it looks like it can be done, i'm definitely in for sure.

What do you say? I'm sure there are people on this forum who aren't getting in on it, b/c they're not sure it will fit a post updated bumper. If we can get rid of any uncertainties we can get the ball rolling!.

Lemme know what you think and e-mail me directly @ chris24@gmail.com

Thanks!

What about fitment on a 97 C280 Sport. I saw mention earlier in the thread speaking about the Sport cover, but I'm not clear if this replica would work on it? I didn't relaize there was a difference between a standard and a Sport cover.
What would it cost to ship to either St Joeph, Mi (49085) or Portland, IN (47371)?
I also haven't seen much of an answer to the question about the mesh filler - where can I obtain that material?

I am not quite sure about the sport cover, if i am correct i think the sport package has the molding painted black, otherwise its all the same and will fit fine.

I am guessing the shipping will be between 80 -100. I am not sure, thats just Ballpark.

The Mesh filler you can get from anywhere, but i will try to provide with the kit for an extra few bucks.

Hopefully I've answered your questions. I will start on the project in January. I"ll keep you up to date on everything. So keep checkn back.

Yep the Hella lights i bought fit the bumper, but the mounting will have to be modified on the bumper. But the size of the fog light is the same as the Brabus one.

I studied 3 years in composite materials doing molds and molding parts in fiber/carbon/kevlar/etc

that was very nice:)

But for a bumper, you need to get urethane because glassfiber is way too fragile if you bump it...

you are probably better off making the brabus fit your existing bumper.

its gonna look weird if your front bumper is really close to the body, and yet your rear bumper is sticking out in the back.

I Have a C36 Rear, if this goes well i will be replicating that too for the same price. As for the Sideskirt, i don't know yet b/c the cost per side is alot, so i don't really think it'll be worth it. Let me check with L&S first. Alternative is the updated skirts or paint the black part since the Front isn't that low.

I've used fiberglass kits from Bomex, and they aren't as fragile as people say. I've scraped the bottom on a driveway without affecting the rest of the bumper. You should really avoid running over tires regardless of what front bumper you have. Paint chips are mostly determined by the quality of the paint. You can't spend $200 on paint and expect it to be as good as stock. The cars with fiberglass bumpers we've sent through Little John's Bodyworks have not suffered from any rock chips, cracking, or fading, but expect to pay $500-700 to properly paint the bumper.

I am currently geting the Front made right now, and that is $300 + 150 if you want a CF lip. I also have an AMG C36 rear, that i would make if there is enough interest. For the side skirts, I am trying to find a better source, b/c if i made those they would cost way too much. If you want the front let me know, email me 714guy at sbcglobal . net. I have not made the CF lip bumper yet. The rear that I *might* make and sell is the C36 AMG rear (same one on the silver car above). I dont have any side skirts at the moment, but i could get them made, but they will cost alot.

anyways here is a PS of what the CF lip would look like, you just paint the grey part the color of your car.

Well, I see what you mean, but you can paint it exposing as much or as little as you like. I might just have to make a splitter type thing.

splitter is a better idea i think, that way your not wasting carbon fiber when you are just gonna paint over it

Call up Jon at Auto Network. 1.626.272.3611. He doesn't do replica kits though, so I'd bring by the kit first and ask him. He did the Frabus b/c its didn't need any work. He does really fast and good work for an excellent price. I'll be bringing in my front real soon for paint too ;) ;)

Are you only going to make reps for the 10 people? What about the rear bumper?

I am making 10 first, then more later if needed. As for the rear, I have a brand new AMG rear bumper that i might mold if i get enough interest.

Yeah, I don't have the Brabus Brabus rear or skirts. I do have the AMG (C36) rear i might make, depending how much demand there is.

Just picked up the BRABUS bumper and it looks great. I'm excited to get it painted and installed. Thanks Jason.

On a side note, I have an REAL Lorinser bumper. It's got a few rock chips and a few cracks, all repairable, one of the fog lights is cracked, and I'm not sure if the passenger side metal screw bracket is still in tact, never tried to reconnect it. It's usualy valued around 800-1000 dollars, I'll sell it for dirt cheap. Asking 150, email me for pictures. I have the original booklet that came with the bumper. It was installed around 1995. Let me know.

if you invest 150 or so more dollars, it will fit, I promise!...all you need is a pre-update skeleton. Search my username and you'll see what I mean
