Hey everyone,

I checked search and couldn't find precisely what I am looking for.

The dealership informed me that I should change my brake fluid (as it hasn't been changed for two years). I've never changed the brake fluid in any of my other cars, unless I was replacing calipers (convenience).

Is every two years overkill? Is there a more diagnostic way to tell when its had enough?

No real diagnostic way, but typically every 30,000 miles is the interval to change your brake fluid. For average driving, that is about every 2 years.

If you've done it before in your other cars, you should do it yourself and don't be charged stealership prices. It's no different than any other car.

Every 2 years is correct, its to keep the brake system free of moisture and contaminents.

as for if there is a way to tell if it needs to be replaced.. the brake fluid in our benz's is relativly clear.. slight yellowish to it.. if its dark.. more of a brown colour.. its time for replacement!
but every 2 years is key.

definitely every year. brake fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs water/moisture. every brake system is an open system, meaning its always exposed to the air, because it needs atmospheric pressure to function. even though the fluid tank is closed with a cap, it doesnt mean its competely sealed. the fluid may appear clear, meaning its not so comtaminated with dirt or oil, but it contain moisture, which lowers its boiling point, thus lowering your braking performance and brake parts lifespan. so, I say change your fluid every year!
