View Full Version : unlevel suspension?...
Ok....so i installed eibach pro kit 1.7" front 1.9" rear along with koni adj shocks etc a few months back...and noticed the car didnt sit level...its up on the passenger side 8-9mm more than the drivers side...
at first i thought it would settle...but nothing changed...
the car has no additional wieght like subs etc.
I have jacked the car up and,
-all springs seem to be sitting in the pads correctly.
-all pads are of the same size.
-all bushes have been released and tightened at the new ride hieght.
could it be,
-the car has wieght problems(more on one side than the other!)
-the eibach springs were incorrectly made in size or stiffness
-the shocks were made with higher pressure on one side for some reason?...
has anyone had this problem?,
thanks
Paul

You could adjust the different by using the thicker spring pad on the lower site.. ;)
Thats whats the pad originally intended for..

I don't know if you put in all new pads, but if you did, did you remember to take out all of your old ones first.
I had my car ride high like this after installing springs. I had forgotten to take out the old spring pad before putting in the new one and had accidentally stacked my pads on the front left of my car.
Just a thought
And it could be that your springs are incorrect. Check and make sure the serial numbers on the springs match. The fronts should be the same and the backs should be the same.
Vogtland had to send me new springs because they boxed them incorrectly in Germany. I had the correct rear springs, but the fronts were wrong.

I have Eibach's in my CLK430 and I have the EXACT same issue. I didn't measure in metric, but my passenger side is .5" higher than the driver's side, which is right around your measured difference of 8-9mm. I have #3 pads all around but will be dropping the passenger side to 1's to correct the issue.

The springs sit differently into the suspension arm each side of the car. it is strange. like the hook end part of the spring is pointing towards middle of the car and the other side is pointing away from the car,
im not sure if this is a consideration but it does hold the springs at different tentions when there right out (car jacked up)
this is the way it is in my car urs may be different

changing the spring pad will not affect the spring rate .. no matter how you look at it.
PS: For all you know the eight already been croocked with stock suspension, its just the different is more apparent now after lowered since the fender gap and tire is closer...
For other I would not worry about uneven height.
I have posted the complete list of different spring pad for both front and rear.. (please search it) and you could adjust the different using the pad..
I'll say it again ....this is what the Original purpose for different spring pad thickness... (for alignment purpose).
If you look at my old post, I have been chanign spring pad many times on my car.. (by myself).... from using pad #1, then #5, E3 and back to #5 now...for the front..
I also even double stack the spring pad on the rear as well and using different combination to get "my perfect height".... (also search on "stacking pad" if you would like to know to double stack the pad).

my passenger side is lower also, I think it is becuase of the Gas tank being on that side
Hmmm this is more commen than i thought...
thanks for the replies guys...

I did notice this...,it is alittle odd...the spring does sit differently on each side!...
You could adjust the differents by using the thicker spring pad on the lower site..
hmmm,i guess this would work...though im using #1 pads all round,i like the look of the lower side of the car,so i dont intend to raise it to compensate...
how about i trim a very small portion of the spring off?,i know this will effect spring rate, but by how much??
I don't know if you put in all new pads, but if you did, did you remember to take out all of your old ones first.
Yip,i checked...(i almost forgot one when i was installing too)

Yip checked that too...
