think i may have a faulty oil sensor. Where is this mounted and is it a straight forward item to replace if i was to do it myself?
Haynes manual has no reference to it. car is c280 w202.
cheers.

Can you elaborate on why you think so? What kinda of symptoms, porblems are you noticing, etc etc?

I think I may have the same problem, on my dash the oil light comes on soon after starting the car and does not go off until I shut it down. I have had my oil changed and checked a few times and everything was OK so my guess is that it is the oil level sensor is faulty
also the new sensor from the dealer was about $82 and I plan to do it myself but have not made the time for it yet, it seems like a simple fix
1.Drain oil
2.locate sensor on right side of oil pan
3.unplug sensor wires
4.remove faulty sensor
5.install new sensor + O ring
6.then work backwards and I suggest replacing with new oil
but like I said i have not done this yet so I'm not sure if there will be any surprises along the way like there usually are.

Basically oil light came on a couple of times over the last few days. Oil level is fine according to the dipstick. Figured it must be a dodgy sensor.

It depends what engine your C280 has. If it has the M104 I-6 (94-97) it's easy, just like the other poster described with the C230. However if you have the M112 V-6 (98-00) it is a bit of a pain. The lower engine pan needs to be removed to access the sensor inside, but once the pan is off it's easy-just 4 bolts. Good luck....

hmm... mines a 97, i'm sure is a v6. probably left to a specialist. The light hasn't come on for a while so may just monitor for now.
