Hey mate hope your still active here I'm based in NZ aswell! Invercargill to be precise, I've got a w202 c280s 2.8 v6 m112 I've heard the 5.4 m113 from a w208 is a "plug and play swap" can you shead any light on this I've also heard the 722.6 gearbox in the c280 will bolt up to the 5.4 I'm aware it won't hold the power for long neither will the diff. Also if you didn't know already I've been told c55 amg brakes are a bolt on upgrade for w202s I've got some for mine, In the process of rebuilding them.

Hey man! Yeah still mucking around with a few 202's when time allows =) Is yours a 2000 model with the touch shift?(w208 55 is only 00 onwards) The engine will be drop in however IIRC you'll want a bunch of other stuff around it, ie AC lines, fan shroud and intake plastics, matching EIS, ECU. if you can get a full W208 55 as a donor you can then run its suspension, trans, diff, exhaust etc

W203 brakes bolt up however piston orientation is reversed, you can separate the calipers to flip the cast iron brackets and replace the inner halves with ones from W163, same piston sizes however these use banjo.

Also was there much fabrication involved to get the 208 gearbox and diff in? this is my main worry getting everything to fit then getting it to function together. I assume I'd have to modify the 208 subframe to suit the 202 ?

I've also got another project you might be interested in a 99 nissan c33 laurel, it's getting a 2.8 m104 i6 turbo built for 800hp-1000hp. Forged rods pistons big cams double valve springs and heaps of boost lol

I was originally going to put the m104 into my w202 this was the plan all along but after some digging I found it'd be easy to v8 swap the 202 and leave this for something else. The engines immaculate aswell 30,000 original ks perfect for a turbo application.

Yeah I'm suprised to see any local nz action on these cars these days, there is a few projects going on up here but its pretty quiet haha.

The project to install all the w208 55 gear was a success, though there is still a couple of minor things that would complete the project - the ESP module can be updated(needs the 00 ESP harness from 202/208) and the rear doors need manual window winders installed if you want to use them, the w208 EIS doesn't recognize DCM3/4 as its 2 door only...this isn't much of a problem because DCM3/4 eventually fail and drag down the CAN anyway(usually makes your seats and central locking etc not work), don't bother with replacement DCM3/4 either unplug bottom of B-piller cable tray or replace with 202 manual winders.

The 722.6 for V-engines are all same size, in the CLK55/e55 its a 722.636 which has some additional clutch packs. I'm not sure for ratios.

The 202/208 subrames are same, just the diff rear bushes are bit harder in the 208 55 which I don't think are available anymore. You can swap entire rear subframe and suspension at once, all the same(even the front).

You'll want the 208 55 diff to match the TCU and you'll need to hammer the floor up in boot above(that's how AMG did it for the c55) or install the 208 55 part like I have. in this case you'll also want the matching 4-finger 208 55 prop shaft.

that aside, the bigger problem is your not 00, you'll want to install the updated trans tunnel add-on, to run the touch shift for the 208 55 TCU and ECU. hence your better to find a complete 208 donor for this project (430 or 55 if you have the funds)

You'll want your own SDS to work through any diagnostic problems!.

I know a guy up here with a turbo M104 C36 project, about 700hp! the M113 route is certainly easier, especially with original ECU.
